tamrix··on I’ve been single all my life
See that's the problem. Either party can just quit at any time.

Get a house, couple kids and a retirement fund. Then have her watch sex in the city and have girls nights out. To divorce papers, child support, demestic abuse and losing your family.

Sounds great casually but let's be real here. Someone's heart will get broken eventually. Unless you're going to marry a God fearing feminine unicorn. You have to agree there's a large risk here.

Once you see your father, extended family and friends go through this pain. You can admit it isn't for everyone. Loneliness is less painful.

You can look at the bright side though. You as a man can do whatever you want. Focus on yourself instead. And spend all your own money.

You're right. End consumers don't care. Which is why Microsoft will stuff it into the desktop search. Users will just type and ChatGPT has customers. They won't know what it's called or care that it even exists but they'll be using it.
tamrix··on Show HN: New AI edits images based on text instructions
Maybe but it could put their business logo anywhere!
tamrix··on Crypto.com will delist Tether in Canada to comply with Ontario regulator
We know that for banks too but that never seems to be a problem.
tamrix··on GitHub is sued, and we may learn something about Creative Commons licensing
But the question realistically is, is it the developers responsibility because they are the ones creating the program.

It's not like copilot made you use the code, copilot didn't commit or release the app with the code.

Copilot didn't breach the copyright, you did. It's a tool. You used it. You released it.

Maybe there's a product which you can include to see what code of yours violates copyright in the future?

tamrix··on Devenv: Compose a Developer Environment Easily for PHP with Nix
How long does it take for someone to ramp up on your project?

Reducing that time can save money and improve the handling of versions between projects and developers.

Surely, if your just a solo dev on a closed source project. The benefits are minimal.

tamrix··on Mozilla to explore healthy social media alternative
At some point everyone just has to learn to be better people and focus their attention on positive content online.

It took humans thousands of years just to be civilised in a physical society. Hopefully it's faster online.

tamrix··on Why HTTP without encryption and self-signed sertificates are OK
There's a Web3 project called Dane. Which seeks to add CAs to the blockchain. I suppose if successful, you wouldn't need to trust a company but instead a blockchain. But with all the web3 hate these days, it probably won't see the light of day.
tamrix··on Brickit scans your pile of bricks and gives you ideas, with instructions
When you were a kid wasn't the funniest part modifying the design or building your own? Isn't that kind of the point of Lego? It's in small blocks so you can create something with your imagination?
tamrix··on Apple Announces iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus
Tone down the fanboyism.

I'm sure people have found androids useful in a way they actually benefit from it.

tamrix··on Useful engineering metrics and why velocity is not one of them
It's just title inflation. Previously, a system engineer used to work at Nasa, now they configure computer networks.

Now everyone is a tech/dev advocate because they have 500+ linkedin connections and repost the same cloud news everyone has already read.

I'm just going to coin the next stupid title now, 'cloud astronaut', they're so good they're beyond the cloud. That will fill the blank void that is your ego. You're welcome.

Someone has to give this thing entropy.
tamrix··on Gen Z and the rise of influencer culture
You know I thought this initially but at the rate people are consuming social media, they're not really wrong.

It only happened if it's posted om social media, is kind of stupid but unfortunate reality.

I hate it to death but it is 98% of the internet for most people.

tamrix··on Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become
Some people are so driven towards being productive that they think their time is worth more than others.

Why should I waste my day taking to you when I could be working and being more productive?

Eventually all your relationships, friends family etc are tied down to how much money you will be making with that time as it could be better spent working, making money .

So sure every choice is a vote for an improved you. No one would question such an obvious statement. But the way this is framed, is that every decision should be a productive one, which will net you more income.

So stop wasting your time and be more productive or your self worth is delimiting. Aka productivity porn.

At some point, when this is the "social norm", the government is going to step in to make sure everyone feels better by incentivising the vulnerable.

Then it's a big contest for who's the vulnerable.
