PS once they put me in the cop car and I knew they were seriously going to take me to jail, the cop in the car said "I bet you hate it when men grope your sister..." as his partner was frisking her outside the car... Real quality humans.
just try to stay focused and dont spread yourself too thin when it comes to learning. build a foundation one day at a time.
have fun, laugh a lot, live free follow your dreams.
Without context then sure it seems not right. In the real world, terrorism is real. Although I don't agree with anything you mentioned as a whole, if it is a consequence of the world I live in, I'm ok with that. So are plenty of others.
Another interesting thing is how to handle microservices orchestration, development, deployment early on without significant investment of time. We've been looking at docker/docker-compose and it seems like it should handle it but also seems more geared towards multi-container single-service apps. I'm wondering if anyone else is using same technology and has input? Maybe as things develop it will handle build/mananage/orchestrate multi-decoupled services
Fast forward a year (sober!) and I am the lead developer at a startup making 50% more than I did there and starting my own venture on the side with two very solid co-founders.
The moral of my story is never give up, life isn't always easy and sometimes you have to really hit low points to find reasons to change. Things will ALWAYS get better with jobs and with life. Always have faith in yourself and know that others have struggled and made it through.
Technology wise, the core language I use (python) was highly transferrable but I had been using for instance backbone.js in a large SPA. My current role uses ember.js and I had to learn that on the fly (just like I had learned backbone on the fly). Always just take what you learned and the process for how you learned it and communicate that you can do the same if needed in a new role.
Cheers.
Great application, I'm especially impressed with the django/rest-framework backend (getting some ideas for my own project from looking at how you guys implemented permissions...)
That said, the first thing that jumped out when I tried it was the fonts. It seems like the use of tall and skinny fonts makes it hard to read and imo hurts the design.
Definitely get more feedback on those and check out other modern/popular webapps to get ideas!
Other than that great job!
(PS It'd be awesome if you guys blogged about your use with django/restframework/angular if you haven't already!)
