tacocataco··on Stirling PDF: Self-hosted, web-based PDF manipulation tool
One of firefox's more recent updates added a PDF editor.

I think people's perception of forefox is from several versons ago. As a daily user throughout its history, Firefox has made alot of progress over the years IMO.

Give it another shot if it's been a while.

A coffee or beer can be slammed quickly compared to waiting for and eating a meal.

Sometimes you wanna get out asap.

If we did away with First Past The Post voting, we could have more then two sides. Then it could be "my side good, all other sides bad!"

Progress.

tacocataco··on Claiming high user satisfaction, IRS will decide on renewing free tax site
There are a lot of things that remind me that the government doesn't work for the people, and tax time is just another one of those times.

Getting taxes automated is a solved problem. There is only one reason this status quo persisted for so many years. it's just to bad that we must bend the knee before the real americans, Intuit's lobbyists.

I'm glad the IRS is showing signs of wriggling free of such influence, but it is unfortunately to late a fix for yet another unforgiveable position for me.

The US government has shown me its priorities again and again throughout my life, and it's not the people. There is no rehabilitating this image in my eyes.

Hopefully I can be proven wrong, and the next generation can grow up far less cynical of our elected representatives.

tacocataco··on FTC says Amazon executives destroyed potential evidence using apps like Signal
It's interesting how in some cases, text communication isn't allowed to be recognized as official communication in the eyes of the law.

I am referencing communicating with a landlord about a fault in the building. I have gotten screwed in the past because I didn't put the information sent to a landlord in a email.

Goodbye security deposit. I guess you can crush a stone, mix with water, and turn the dust into a blood slurry after all.

If only the city held these deposits and the landlord would have to prove in court that they deserve it.

"Oh your power is out? Guess you should have purchased a ElektriciT+ subscription! YOUR FAULT!"

Perhaps those conservatives you're referring to would like to vote for a more moderate candidate, but they are chained to the Republicans via First Past The Post voting.
tacocataco··on Airlines required to refund passengers for canceled, delayed flights
Money moves mountains. There should be an auction for a cash refund to disembark.

The airlines just don't want to pay fair market value to get someone off the plane and they get to use violence to get their way.

tacocataco··on Amazon grows to over 750k robots, replacing 100k humans
I wouldn't mind if robots replaced all humans, if humans didn't need to prove they deserve housing, Healthcare and food.

See the Supreme Court case coming up for a preview on how we will be treated when our labor is no longer needed.

tacocataco··on Amazon grows to over 750k robots, replacing 100k humans
Maybe robots should pay taxes like humans since they are taking the jobs and the tax base that goes along with them.
tacocataco··on Amazon grows to over 750k robots, replacing 100k humans
Food waste is tragic. Now no one eats that $5 iceberg lettuce head, and people are forced to eat unhealthy low nutritional carbs for sustenance.
tacocataco··on Amazon grows to over 750k robots, replacing 100k humans
I think getting adequate housing, food, and Healthcare is useful for workers.

Perhaps if people didn't need to prove that they deserve these necessities this conversation about robots replacing humans wouldn't be so dire.

tacocataco··on IBM and the Holocaust
The business plot [1] was the potential inflection point in the USA where fascism could have enveloped the nation. (IMO). We got lucky. We STILL are getting lucky.

This stuff is why businesses need to be equally owned by the workers that do all the work. That power and wealth is diffused throughout the population, not concentraighted in the hands of a few men with fewer morals.

The inequity of our way of life is a existential threat.

For the working class, it is a moral failure. Or in the case of student loans not allowed.

I'd rather get a cheap smart phone and invest in PC components.

I wish I had the strength so many apparently have to have such a small and valuable object always in your pocket. For me, the more expensive it is the more anxiety and worried I would be over losing or breaking it.

Peace of mind is priceless.
