A lot of hypothesis and speculation in this, but nevertheless very intriguing. One thing that caught my attention is how the molecular structure of a lot of common psychedelics (Psilocybin, DMT) have pockets, where quantums are allowed to be in superposition, and during the process of metabolizing we are essentially collapsing them.

Comment and upvote count not too prominent enough. These two, together with the headline are what you glance for when scrolling the feed.
Personally I feel on the XS font size seeems a bit too big, seems about right for a normal app, but for a HN-Reader I'd go one smaller (for everything basically).
Then on top of that politics come into play, with all these increasing trade embargoes and bi-lateral agreements, many transactions could be interpreted either as laundering or legit, depending on interests.
But Microsoft's recent efforts on Linux & macOS, i.e. VSCode, has been surprisingly good. They do a lot of things, I think Typescript is run by MS as well.
So that's something that positively changed under Nadella.
Later on he made very influential enemies by exposing corruption in the democratic political party. Instead of any follow up on that front, the pressure on Assange increased and the whole Russian scaremongering narrative was pushed. Probably to distract from own potential repercussions.
For me that looks a lot like government oppression. Something like that wouldn't fly in Germany for example. We had recently had an popular elected political removed from office for something quite insignificant - it was found out, he copy & pasted a few paragraphs in his decade old (and unrelated) doctoral work.
It doesn't look much different then the cases where Chinese or Russian governments going after journalists
Think about Vacuum robots on the other hand. It's still a small niche, but there's a lot of potential. I'd like to see some improvements in that direction, like if they were smarter, with better robotics & movement capabilities, they could be self-sustainable (charge themselves and empty their garbage bag etc.). Could do more tasks, remove dust, or check on things, turn off lights when you are gone... you can come up with some many things here.
I don't think Facebook is destabilizing the country. In fact I don't think anything bad at all is happening. Like please explain to me your negative repercussions from Facebook sharing some of their data with Amazon. How did that undermine the country? People have gotten so hysterical about this topic, it's a madness, and that is what's destabilizing the country IMHO.
Like OP is calling to put some of the most brilliant minds in Silicon Valley in jail, which is ridiculous! But if anything like this should happen, I think you gonna see FAANG & Co seriously consider rebasing outside U.S. (well maybe not G)
We have seen nothing of that, contrary, tech companies have improved our life's immensely, for free, and in my opinion, are the one of the biggest driving force towards improving the future. Data is not just being collected for advertisement, tracking, and evil purposes, but is a very important asset in the development of products.
Furthermore, historically it was governments, not companies, that were abusing private data for nefarious purposes. Yet there seems to be no effort to stop it happening from that direction? Well of course not, its way to useful, and you'd be a fool not to use it, but companies are 'bad' trying utilize it...
Oh boy, this is a deep topic, but generally speaking you have to come to the realization, that losing patience is almost never in your own interest. When you are faced with incompetence or laziness, or being accused for something clearly not your responsibility or fault, it's very easy and natural to let anger dictate your response. It feels right and justified.
But this is not to your benefit. Because your goal is not to defend your standpoint against an opposition - a quick shortsighted affirmation, that you are indeed "right". But to resolve the situation in a calm, rational & constructive way. In the end you can only win, when everybody wins, and that is your real goal!
And you have to incorporate that mindset and live by it. Doesn't matter if we're talking about work issues or getting angry about people in traffic.
GCD is super great and I use it a lot (...if you had to extend AsyncTask recently: my condolences), but it doesn't safeguard you from race conditions, dealing with locks and all that fun stuff.
For now I'm getting a Mac Mini instead. Seems like the option with the least amount of risk attached... It has a fast desktop i7, that should last 5+ years, and its not that pricey either.
Rather what you tend see in daily smokers is a attitude of mild delusional distrust, often leaning towards conspiracy theories, anti-authoritarianism, etc. Since many are not aware of any unreasonable thought patterns, it may be seen as a mild form of psychosis. It goes away only 1-3 days after stopping consuming it though.
But I think it's worth keeping an eye on, in this day and age, we really don't need more people following misguided errands.

The deal used to come with some amount of marketing & discover-ability, but that has basically shifted to the developer as well.

Either way, the ongoing collection of all kinds of data has been obvious for many years now. And it's not going to stop, so some advice: Instead blaming this one actor, better get used to it.
Platforms also can't fully and completely be responsible for political views expressed by user-generated content.
Android XML has a lot of bad stuff in it too. Like all the styling that needs to be done through obscure XML tags, selectors, layer-lists, style-inheritance in separate files and so on.
Also ConstraintLayout is basically AutoLayout, I have been using Anko Layout DSL more and more instead of XML, which then really isn't that different from iOS+SnapKit.
Isn't that what you expect/hope for?
