t3h2mas··on Ask HN: Side project you're working on?
I found a while back and gave it a whirl. I thought it was awesome. I am happy to see you have continued to put time into it. Thanks!

I'm trying to centralize the 2-3 todo/misc apps I use daily by using a bujo/bullet journal. The other day, I was telling my bujo using coworker that I was going to commit to using your app if I didn't dig the bujo.

Thanks again for making meditations. I think the UX flows well for habit tracking.

t3h2mas··on What Is Your Bank’s Security Banking On?
My bank runs a public bug bounty program. It's a start
t3h2mas··on Language Learning for the Dispassionate
I hope that language education services don't forget the desktop experience. As someone who spends 8h a day online, I have times where I go home and don't want to look at a screen.

I want a good desktop experience. I'd love something that would ping me every few hours to make me exercise my language practice.

I'm curious if you prefer Django over js alternatives for any particular reason?

t3h2mas··on Ask HN: If you had a month of free time, what would you do?
I put off going fishing for months after I bought my pole because my 'recipe' wasn't simple enough. Now I try to MVP my hobbies. I keep a pole in the trunk, hit the gas station that sells worms, and drive up to a small reservoir. It's not the perfect serene fishing scene we picture in our heads, but it is a lifesaver.
t3h2mas··on Ask HN: Is RSS making a real resurgence?
Thanks for sharing micro.blog. Recently I keep finding myself drawn to simple, content first social network alternatives. I hope RSS stays strong. I also hope scuttlebutt takes off, and gopher (protocol) makes a comeback.
t3h2mas··on Ask HN: What do you look for in an applicant's GitHub?
Yes. I am guessing they are taking that into account and expect you to do the same.

Getting some code public now and then will the outside world get that 'sense' easier than other methods.

I've ran into this where both my day job code and side project code are proprietary. I looked at my github profile and felt underrepresented. Now I have the goal to push something public here and there.

t3h2mas··on Ask HN: What is your favorite YouTube channel for developers?
Came here to post this channel. It jives well with my curiosity.

I was happily surprised to see him have 2 luna-lang videos come out less than a week after luna-lang made it on my to-play-with radar.

t3h2mas··on Ask HN: Which functional language has the best ecosystem for a web backend?
> but if you consider immutability a key functional feature ...

Fair point. I have to say that I appreciate both the libraries [1] and resources [2][3] concerning functional programming in the javascript community. The functional reactive programming movement is a neat example where we can find functional ideas brewing [4].

Say someone decides that vanilla JS isn't enough. They can play with functional first languages that transpile to JavaScript [5][6].

t3h2mas··on Ask HN: How are you monitoring source code for secrets?
I wrote something* that checks the entropy of strings found in incoming webhook commit payloads. It catches a good amount of secrets, but even more false flags. I have to work on honing it in.

I'm not sure about hosted solutions but there are some great open source tools that scan entire repos as well as their history. I have used, and like, Gitrob and Trufflehog.

* * not currently OSS unfortunately

t3h2mas··on Ask HN: What is your Golang web-dev tech stack?
Gin/React. I was using templates but decided to offload some display logic on the frontend instead of creating more API endpoints. So I switched to React. I dig writing decoupled front/backends

I'm a big fan of 'panoramic sunroofs' and look forward to seeing them included vehicles that don't have every other bell and whistle.
t3h2mas··on Why I Fell in Love with Arch Linux (2015)
Arch has my heart. It taught me everything I know about the various pieces under the hood that come together to make a desktop experience. I've tried many distributions over the years and Arch came out on top for me.
t3h2mas··on Kubernetes by Example
I agree with raesene9 here. Docker plus a proxy (haproxy, traffaek, and docker-flow-proxy come to mind) would do the trick.
