sysstemlord··on Avast Scandal: Why We Stopped Recommending Avast and AVG
It says in the article that once Avast was exposed they moved the Spyware from the toolbar to the main program and claimed everything is ok now, so in this case it's fool me thrice...
sysstemlord··on How the great firewall of China detects and blocks fully encrypted traffic [pdf]

sysstemlord··on Intelligent Brains Take Longer to Solve Difficult Problems
People should differentiate between introvert, knowledgeable, and intelligent. I most likely qualify for the first two but I wouldn't even begin to guess on how to know whether I'm in the third league.
sysstemlord··on Red Hat dropping support for LibreOffice
Yes, and with a bad prompt also. It misses the point as if it's not possible to run Libre Office on RedHat anymore.

Even better, don't use computers

sysstemlord··on Finetuning Large Language Models
I saw a video tutorial about it and if i understood correctly, the API will automatically include whatever you "tuned" in the prompt, making it just as costly i guess. But i could be wrong as it was late and i was getting sleepy.
sysstemlord··on Show HN: I made a SQL game to help people learn / challenge their skills
I guess the usefulness would be from client software like plsql or any other, implement a natural language processing powered by chatgpt, since the client already has access to the structure then it can include it in the prompt, the user would only write something vague like i want all the clients who bought with more than 500$ this year.

That's a little exaggerated though, Android, Google Maps, Photos, Gmail?
sysstemlord··on Sundar Pichai received $226M compensation, boosted by a triennial stock grant
You don't know if he's ignorant based on his one comment, seems you are also over generalizing, also this comment isn't really ignorant. He did state issues that are conceptually accurate and generally describe the situation, regardless of whether the number in the yearly salary is a little different, this doesn't change the problem.

sysstemlord··on How I, as someone who is visually impaired, use my iPhone (2020)
Interstingly, my cousin, a visually impaired 25 years old girl, never liked using the screen off feature. Her argument was that if someone sees her typing on a phone when its screen is off, they would automatically assume that the poor girl doesn't know the phone is off, someone should tell her :)

sysstemlord··on A military technique for falling asleep in two minutes
And i thought i'm the only one with a fantasy world that progresses a little every night before sleeping. Not much progress though because i fall asleep very quickly when i'm there.
sysstemlord··on Behind the Messy, Expensive Split Between Facebook and WhatsApp’s Founders
Whatsapp's key to sucess was its most simple, and most multi platform design among all competitors. It worked on all phones ranging from S40 to the most modern OS, and it was the one who invented the concept of no username/account/manually adding contacts/password login..., but just a phone number and you're ready to go. Whatsapp has a very clean interface, ad free, also very efficient messaging delivery. You don't only compete on who's first, but who does it better. Apple hasn't been first in anything since the invention of the iPhone, but they are still successful in this domain.
