swebs··on The Manga Guide Series
>those geared towards women (shojo and josei) do the same thing but they have a different drawing style. the manga guide collection is not using that style.

What? Its way closer to shojo style than it is to something like Dragon Ball Z.

swebs··on Blue verification checkmark vs. hexagonal PFPs on Twitter
I'd say the blue checkmarks are a better example. They're a stamp of approval from the global corporate hegemony. You can even have yours taken away for expressing unapproved thought.
swebs··on In place of a legal notice, here is a blessing
Sometimes conspiracy theories get proven right.

>who’s life was ruined by mental illness

If some FOIA request decades down the line reveals that the CIA was actually involved, I wouldn't be surprised. MKULTRA happened after all.

swebs··on Omicron variant more resistant to vaccine but causes less severe Covid: study
You seem to be implying that the Eastern approach is better, but the evidence doesn't support that at all.
swebs··on The FAANG Market Is Fading
Yes, but bad in different ways. Amazon's reputation is that they overwork you and people only stay until their "golden handcuffs" vest. But their code quality and tooling is seen as excellent.
swebs··on The FAANG Market Is Fading
Also MS has a reputation of being a horrible place to work for:

swebs··on Japanese Dome House
>one thing is for sure, is that we can't keep building McMansions

Why not? They're surprisingly low on resources for their size. They seem to be mostly wood beams and sheet rock, with a thin concrete foundation.

swebs··on Octopuses, crabs and lobsters to be recognised as sentient beings under UK law
I don't really understand what you mean by that. They're completely different families of drugs used to treat different diseases, and have different side effect profiles. Opioids are typically used to treat pain, while Benzodiazepines treat anxiety disorders.
swebs··on Octopuses, crabs and lobsters to be recognised as sentient beings under UK law
He was prescribed Clonazepam, not opiates.
swebs··on Ask HN: If the Internet were redesigned today, what changes would you make?
TLDs should be reversed. So instead it would be com.google.www/maps

swebs··on Is nuclear power our best bet against climate change?
>We have no long term solution for the storage and disposal of enrichment byproducts

Currently fossil fuel plants vent all waste into the atmosphere, including radioactive byproducts. At least in this case, the waste is in solid form and can be contained somewhere.

swebs··on New Zealand council ends contract with wizard after 23 years of service
That's speculation on The Guardian's part that doesn't really match up with the city council's statement.
swebs··on New Zealand council ends contract with wizard after 23 years of service
If you had more context, its easy to read between the lines. Witchcraft is considered a serious issue to people from regions they want migrants from.

I haven't run into much trouble, though maybe I just got lucky with Nordea.

swebs··on EU plans to force OEMs to use a common charger for all phones
>If you can expect to find wireless charging in every hotel room and every train seat then it's not a problem. But I suspect that's a long way off.

I have seen them in many commuter trains and most coffee shops, like Starbucks. They're surprisingly common if you know to look out for the symbol.

swebs··on EU plans to force OEMs to use a common charger for all phones
Sure, as long as the electricity doesn't come from fossil fuels. Why not?
swebs··on Apple Will Not Reinstate Epic’s Fortnite Developer Account
It would be a reasonable possibility if Tim Sweeny wasn't such a raging hypocrite.
swebs··on Apple threatened Facebook ban over slavery posts on Instagram
That was not the purpose of the Afghanistan war, but it did happen incidentally.
swebs··on Apple threatened Facebook ban over slavery posts on Instagram
That seems like a nice way to avoid liability, but I don't see how that stops the modern slave trade in the middle east.
swebs··on Germany’s no-emotion voting guide surges despite campaign of personalities
That sounds exactly like the Swiss system. And they seem to be doing quite well by all metrics, so maybe there's something to that.
