swader999··on SpaceX Is Buying Cursor
Maybe, but migration from/to anything is so much easier now with Agents.
swader999··on SpaceX Is Buying Cursor
I do think this has had its day. From what I remember, Cursor was useful back in the day when you coded in an IDE and wanted to read code while you baby stepped through incremental changes with an AI. I'm tempted to put /sarc around this but not really...
swader999··on Is Fable 5 Back?
No chance of this being insided:

Could have made a killing off of poly market and rick rolled ftw.

They should name their next model Algernon.

swader999··on Anthropic requires 30 day data retention for Fable and Mythos
It's a fairly common name to begin with.
swader999··on Claude Fable 5
Yeah its the cookie monster of token consumption. I only found it useful for massive parallel grunt work.
swader999··on What it feels like to work with Mythos
"I can bring your competitors drastically more value with AI tooling"
swader999··on Claude Fable 5
I tried ultracode today on the max pro plan. An hour and a half in was all I lasted. Giant review on an entire six month old code base. It found 61 bugs, about ten were notable. Pretty impressed.
swader999··on Claude Fable 5
Yeah that's how I'm using it right now. Smoke em while you got em...
swader999··on Facebook is paying people overseas promoting Alberta separatism
Suspect or poorly worded
swader999··on Facebook is paying people overseas promoting Alberta separatism
Dumb and Dumbererer.
swader999··on Facebook is paying people overseas promoting Alberta separatism
I live here, rural and in areas you'd expect this to have more traction. Nobody is even talking about it. It just doesn't come up in conversation. It might get fifteen percent of the vote and only then because only people that care will bother to show up.
swader999··on We Think the SpaceX IPO Is Overvalued
I don't think euv capacity will ever make data centers in space a thing.
swader999··on Ask HN: Why hasn't there been a real competitor to Ticketmaster yet?
Fixed the last sentence for you: "This kind of situation is exactly why lobbying exists"
swader999··on AI is slowing down
I think we need to see Open AI's and/or Anthropic's S1's to really know the state of it all.
swader999··on How much of Thermo Fisher's antibody data has been manipulated?
Would it be the same idea as an x ray of a critically welded part?

Aren't we back to the drawing board once everyone uses this?
swader999··on C++: The Documentary
I'm going to rent the local cinema and invite all my normal friends and family for this. About time they watch something decent.
swader999··on Meta's ships facial recognition on smart glasses
I'd rather be face forgetting self than wear this nonsense.

IPO IPO IPO!!!
swader999··on The dead economy theory
AI for the fortune 500 seems so misplaced, its for the 3 person startup trying to take on an existing fortune 5000 enterprise with lower overall costs.
swader999··on Claude Opus 4.8
Replying to myself -- likely this did happen and it was Amazon tokenmaxing due to exec pressure and many were using MeshClaw. Goodhart’s Law: when a measurement becomes the target, it stops being a useful measurement.
swader999··on Claude Opus 4.8
Fair points. I notice it's not hiding as much from me as earlier versions. It's telling me exactly where it has gaps, where someone might be critical of what it did. Then it's easy for me to adjust. Before it used to lie or just not tell me. Feels like it is acting more like a senior that has enough game and credibility to just tell it like it is. It's noticable in only a few long prompts so far.
swader999··on Claude Opus 4.8
I think we could run for at least a decade further with no model changes/improvements, just better harnesses and infra around this agentic way of developing.
swader999··on Claude Opus 4.8
Used it for a couple of long running prompts so far. Had to restart one that bonked on API errors. Of note, I really like the straight forward candor its using. 'More honest' than previous models is playing out in what its saying to me. Telling me straight up where it failed, where gaps are. I like it so far.
swader999··on Claude Opus 4.8
Just swap 'Honesty' with 'correctness in its claims' and you'll get what you need out of this aspect of the model description.
swader999··on AI sticker shock hits corporate America
"An AI consultant tells Axios one of their clients recently spent half a billion dollars in a single month after failing to put usage limits on Claude licenses for employees." Like physically, how could this even happen?
swader999··on Canada to order military plane fleet from Sweden in shift from US suppliers
The implication that this somehow weakens Alberta’s constitutional status is false. Alberta is a full province under the Constitution of Canada with the same constitutional standing as the other provinces.

The Supreme Court has already ruled that Canada and other provinces would be obligated to negotiate terms of separation should a province ever vote to leave in a clear referendum.

Yes, support for leaving is probably at 10-20%. Just having the referendum will build the infrastructure and political machinery for keeping it alive for a long time from the first try. I live here and I'm not a fan of Smith for encouraging it at all.
