Funny joke. Everybody laughs. Curtains.
Yes, the bastion of free market capitalism is no much different than the evil communist countries.
When US companies do it, then it is just good business strategy, investing in growth for future profits.
I certainly would rather live places like Mallorca or Donostia than in many places that are ahead of Spain in the silly GDP game.
Speaking of low IQ, it's pretty amusing to read that someone thinks that Spain came out unscathed from the events of 1930s and 1940s.
It always could put military bases in Greenland. NATO was a thing, and Denmark never really bothered itself much with US military bases there. Greenland was not annexed by the US.
This is pretty much the same shit with the Iran war, the US now is scrambling to convince Iran to open the strait of Hormuz, just to get things in the same state they were before the war started.
This assumes the US has a plan. It's a bold assumption.
And you know what? You're right. Those are all terrorist organizations.
The worst thing people would do is surrendering in those cases.
The UK could absolutely pursue some form of association with the EU if it so desired, it doesn't need to be in the EU for increased cooperation. The problem is that the UK people overseeing brexit wanted very much to cherry-pick only what was advantageous for the UK only and cede on nothing that the bloc desired.
As for Canada, we will have to wait and see. Is it a Switzerland style deal (an endless torrent of asterisks)? Is it something similar to EEA but lighter? Something that is more focused on trade and mutual defense and less on freedom of movement and financial ties?
Probably the main advantage of the EU is that it is much stronger at negotiating these sorts of agreements than any of its individual countries would have been.
It is a deal, both sides bring something to the table and try to negotiate what comes from that.
You can be unethical and still profoundly incompetent.
When you phrase it like that, I firmly believe that's exactly what happened.
It matters little how wealth is created. No one has to lose anything for the excessive concentration of wealth to cause the lives of everyone to be worse.
I love DS flash, it is an amazing workhorse to implement plans created by more robust models (such as GLM). But a more fair comparison would be of DS Flash with GLM Flash.
It is certainly not above them to play accounting tricks to pretend to be anywhere near profitable.
If you create a machine that can turn a dollar into 5, you don't dillute ownership of the machine, you use your fabulous profits to expand production. Anthropic, on the other hand, raises money like crazy, and seems desperate to IPO.
"We are profitable when we ignore our costs".
I wonder what other funny strategy they may employ to claim 80% margins.
Ok, flagging this as misinformation.
This is pure, unadulterated, D.O.P. bullshit. That I see it making the rounds here so often and so many people buying into this crap makes me relieved that no one in real life knows that I have an HN account. I would be ashamed to admit I have one at this point after reading the crap people here believe in.
In fact, as someone that lives in one of those countries, I am actually viewing the events in the middle east with optmism. The closure of Hormuz and Bab-el Mandeb are the sort of harsh push that we needed to get out of our collective asses and cut our dependency on a resource that is in every angle you look at terrible for those who depend on it.
I am not naive, and I know that it is not possible to cut it entirely (oil is used for more than fuel). But if we stop depending on it for vehicles, electricity generation, heating and ao on, it will make a huge difference already.
Then singling out EU countries becomes silly.
Taxation on crude oil and its byproducts is largely for each member state to decide, as is electrification policy.
In some cases the EU steps in; for example with CO2 emission quotas, electrification targets, and largely regulating how countries operate in between them (for example, if France sells energy to Spain, it has to follow some bloc regulations if I am not mistaken).
I find it somewhat amusing how people insist in commenting on EU as if it was something it is not.
And yet, I find Pi so much better to work with than Claude Code.
That people still think OpenAI has, in the Year of Our Lord 2026, any integrity left is baffling.
All DeepSeek models have 384k maximum output tokens:
I very much prefer they don't raise prices.
I was mostly using DeepSeek on Pi, connecting to their API directly (not some third party provider).
I honestly have more issues steering Sonnet properly.
