superzamp··on Solo founder dilemma; CEO or CTO?
And probably clarity of thought value for the author as well, I've found that writing is usually the best way to clear your thoughts and identify potential remaining blind spots in scenarios like this.
superzamp··on Alpaca – Stable Diffusion Plugin for Photoshop
Well if you can't tell, does it matter?
superzamp··on Accounting for Developers, Part II
Don't want to hijack the thread here but we're building an open-source platform that includes ledgers and a scripting DSL for money movements at Formance, with payments connectors in beta and coming up for recon - always keen to chat

superzamp··on Former Coinbase PM charged in cryptocurrency insider trading tipping scheme
Hey what's up with your comment being almost verbatim this one https://news.ycombinator.com/reply?id=32184233&goto=item%3Fi...
superzamp··on Vite – Next Generation Front End Tooling
Would this replace parcel or be adjacent to it?
superzamp··on Bank transfers as a payment method
SEPA SCT Inst is really great but banks seem to be dragging their feet on implementing it or charge a premium for using it. Probably the prospect of losing their juicy payments card issuer transaction fees isn't super appealing.
superzamp··on The World's Deadliest Thing
So basically, is sous-vide cooking is a very bad idea?
superzamp··on Ask HN: What are you using for public documentation these days?
We're using readme.com for https://docs.numary.com/

Pretty satisfied with the productivity gain and the API docs generation from our OpenAPI file.

I just learned that their API would allow us to programmatically update the guide section as well, so we'll probably move the guides to a public github as well for contributions.

superzamp··on Domain-Driven Design
DDD always felt like a bad adaptation of the emperor's clothes for programmers to me.
superzamp··on Google’s Messaging Mess: A Timeline
Similarly disturbing, anything related to login seems to briefly hop-redirect through accounts.youtube.com at some point in the auth flow.
superzamp··on Fastly Outage
Lowkey status reports are the norm now :)

"some users may experience degraded service" => site completely down for all locations

superzamp··on France cuts two nuclear-powered submarines in half to make one new one
Ha, Périr meaning "to die" in french I hope they'll go for Saphle!
superzamp··on Deliveroo shares drop 30% on UK IPO listing
It used to be this way in Paris as well until it wasn't, now almost all these restaurants are on Uber as well. It seems Eats can just pulverize these deals anytime they decide so.
superzamp··on Small, cheap spy satellites mean there’s no hiding place
Quoted from you, just now?
superzamp··on Thanks HN: Lessons learned after Google nearly killed my site
At this point they, and other giants, successfully demonstrated that they cannot regulate themselves over these random terminations and that the public needs to step in.
superzamp··on ISO 8601: a better date format
And the way if forces you into a full-blown file search when you start typing letters and are just looking for files with that prefix...
superzamp··on Where's the fastest place to put my server? How much does it matter?
Nice article.

> Caches work great for CSS files, images and javascript - stuff that doesn't chance for each user. It doesn't work as well for the responses to API calls, for which the responses are different for each user, and sometimes, each time

Regarding this, there seems to be some people addressing the issue now (I have fly.io in mind, and maybe Vercel but I believe the latter use lambdas behind the hood so probably less effective).

superzamp··on Ask HN: What is your “I don't care if this succeeds” project?
I'm pushing a few commits every week on a spatial note app.

It's a big alpha WIP a this point and as you say "I don't care if this succeeds" as I know I need it anyway and already use it every day, as well as a bunch of friends. I'm a visual thinker and to me notes in apps like Evernote always end up looking like digital soup. Putting everything on a big 2D map helps me tremendously. So far it looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/WkuLENm.png

superzamp··on Hedge fund Melvin sustains 53% loss after Reddit onslaught
As many have noticed, from a game theory point of view, Melvin announcing they closed their position is a strictly dominant strategy.
superzamp··on Why it’s usually crazier than you expect

Love it too - this article gives me Thirty Flights of Loving vibes.
superzamp··on Ask HN: Show me your half baked project
> Tuna's global state is persisted in a database, rather than held in memory.

Very interesting. In addition to micro-services, this could drastically ease the pain of developing workflow orchestration systems.

How do you plan to handle code updates in the context of global state?

superzamp··on Ask HN: Show me your half baked project
This is so cool!
superzamp··on Hypercore protocol: a distributed (P2P) append-only log
A related thing I'd love to see take off is companies offering log-based interactions instead of HTTP APIs only. Some apps are such a poor fit for HTTP that you end up with a convoluted mess of web-hooks as soon as some elements of async appear. Obviously, these web-hook contraptions are always home-grown and offer nothing near what you get with a proper log system.
superzamp··on M1 Macs: Truth and Truthiness
> It was a fundamental trade-off inherent to PC computing, and now we don’t have to make it

I wonder how many of the currently accepted trade-offs are actually false.

At low levels it's kind of easy to prove, like you can store either more or bigger packages in a truck but not both. But the higher you go, the farther from physics, the more difficult it becomes to know if you're making decisions on what is essentially a flaky trade-off.

superzamp··on TimescaleDB vs. Amazon Timestream
I remember the announcement of Sagemaker at an AWS summit, a moment of profound embarrassment - the whole thing was barely a Jupyter notebook glued to some EC2 stuff with duct tape.

You're right, they're definitely doing things for the sole purpose of locking you in.

superzamp··on Mitmproxy 5.3
Using it every day at work as a simple reverse proxy with debugging capabilities. Any call my (local) frontend does to the backend goes through mitmproxy so I can quickly figure out what's wrong, edit and replay calls. Production env uses more scalable tools but mitmproxy does a formidable job for development environments with almost zero setup costs :)
superzamp··on I Violated a Code of Conduct
> If someone's threatening you or sexually assaulting you you're going to go the police, not report them for a code of conduct violation.

I think they're right on point with this. Law is incredibly complex and you're likely to end up with a very shitty sub-implementation of the law when building a code of conduct, be it in itself or the application & litigation procedure.

"Be nice to each other & follow the local official regulations" should probably be a valid c&c.
