superchink··on Cursor:none abuse (trick users into clicking Facebook 'like')
Odd effect. I see two mouse cursors (Mac OS X 10.7.3 + Chrome Dev Channel).
superchink··on [dead]
I'm really not sure how to feel about this analysis, but I felt obligated to share, and hopefully something good can come of it.
superchink··on Mechanical Turk vs oDesk
I assumed he was referring to the automated completion of Mechanical Turk tasks.
superchink··on Explore local data: Crime, schools, and home prices across the nation
Anyone know if there are any plans to make this data available via an API?
superchink··on Obama to Hold Google+ ‘Hangout’ After State of the Union
From the linked article:

“…the President will be fielding questions (pre-selected, of course) from average Joes…”
Note that they say they'll be pre-selected.
superchink··on Vim ported to iOS
How about file management? Anyone know how files are stored/accessed?
superchink··on I'll tell you why movie revenue is dropping...
I just realized that I misread the comment, and for that I apologize; I totally missed the boat with my reply.

I actually agree that the average ticket price is way below what I'm used to paying here in Los Angeles. At the same time, I suppose that's the point, to take into account both the high and low ends of the pricing spectrum.

That said, I'd gladly pay $7–8 for a movie!

superchink··on I'll tell you why movie revenue is dropping...
The prices he lists are “…adjusted to 2010 dollars…” based on the linked calculator.

EDIT: Please ignore this comment. See reply below. Sorry for missing the point here.

superchink··on Introducing filer.js
Pretty slick. Anyone thinking of using this for anything serious, though, should note the disclaimer:

“The HTML5 Filesystem API is only supported in Chrome. Therefore, the library only works in Chrome.”

superchink··on Go Daddy No Longer Supports SOPA
So, who's next on the list of SOPA supporters to boycott? Let's do it again until we actually make a difference.

It needs to be someone visible to whom we can send a very clear message, quite quickly.

superchink··on List of YC companies that use GoDaddy
I don't claim to speak for the OP, but I don't think the point of this list isn't to point the finger at the GoDaddy customers. Instead, it's a helpful reminder to those companies on the list that they still have some services being provided by GoDaddy, so that they can participate in the boycott of a company supporting SOPA.

Agreed on your second point. Raising awareness is a great step toward the ultimate goal of fighting SOPA. A mass exodus from a hugely successful supporter of SOPA seems like a good start to me.

superchink··on Official list of SOPA supporters
"The U.S. House judiciary committee responsible for the Stop Online Piracy Act (or SOPA)" - from the first sentence in the link (note the URL for the PDF is at http://judiciary.house.gov).
superchink··on Twitter releases new JS template engine: hogan.js
Actually, “hogan.js is a compiler for the Mustache templating language” –from https://github.com/twitter/hogan.js
superchink··on InspirePay Launches
The landing page is quite light on details. I signed up, and it allows you to setup a payment page that links to your Stripe, Authorize.net, Sage, or their (Inspire) gateway. That seems to be the long and short of it.

superchink··on TimeKiwi, the beautiful timeline creator relaunched with usernames
Anyone know if there's a way to restrict and/or control access to the timeline that it generates?
superchink··on TextMate 2 (Public) Alpha
Thanks for the response. Will definitely have a second look, now that I have an idea of what to expect. Competition is definitely good in this space… especially now that the trend includes TextMate bundles & themes so it's not too hard to maintain a similar environment.
superchink··on TextMate 2 (Public) Alpha
I did (but admittedly not for long). It didn't have the same level of polish. Has this changed? I can already use TM bundles on Sublime Text, but it just felt more feature complete.
superchink··on TextMate 2 (Public) Alpha
The vintage (vim-like) mode is what pulled me into sublime text as my go-to editor. It's just so much faster. I opened the textmate alpha and immediately had a bunch of j characters appear before I realized i don't think I can go back. It's either ST or vim for now…
superchink··on Ask HN: Who is Hiring? (November 2011)
Nice! I work in the same building. I had no idea TrueCar was doing Python/Django stuff right under me. I'd be interested to hear more about what you're doing if you ever have a chance to chat. I'll shoot you an email.
superchink··on Tangle is a JavaScript library for creating reactive documents.
I think it allows reposting after a certain amount of time. I think this actually makes sense, because just because people missed it the first time doesn't mean it's not interesting.
superchink··on Louisiana Makes It Illegal To Use Cash For Secondhand Sales
Seriously? Do you have a reference for this? I don't mean to doubt you, I just would not have guessed this to be legitimate.
superchink··on Turning Wordpress Into a Framework With MTV
By that reasoning, we should just code a whole site in a single PHP page that handles both the backend processing and the display layer and generation of HTML.

It's not about decreasing the number of files (to look into to find bugs), it's about organizing the code into logical pieces that are more manageable.

superchink··on iPhone 4S First Weekend Sales Top Four Million
Fantastic. Thank you for that unexpectedly wonderful metaphor. I especially like the part about Sam—er, Timmy getting told on by Lisa. She's so crafty. :)
superchink··on F.lux for iOS devices now available
To answer my own question in case anyone else comes across this: yes. I'm on iOS 5 and f.lux works great.
superchink··on F.lux for iOS devices now available
Does it work on the iOS 5 GM yet? This may be the only thing holding me back from upgrading…
superchink··on Xerox PARC, Apple, and the truth about innovation.
This line really stuck out to me, adding a hint of perspective in a world where A/B testing and the like are par for the course:

"Xerox had been infested by a bunch of spreadsheet experts who thought you could decide every product based on metrics. Unfortunately, creativity wasn't on a metric."

I shouldn't need to say this, but this in no way should be read to indicate that such metrics and testing are not helpful; they're just not everything.

superchink··on 5000% Increase in the sale of baseball bats on Amazon.co.uk
Apparently CNN has picked up on this and has a story pointing this out as well:
