> Buddhism has no concept of caste.

Do read this.

On the issue of Gita. Could you please elaborate the words which refer to birth categorically? I know enough of Sanskrit to understand the original verses.

Edit: Here is a link to whole research paper on caste in Buddhism. Dp read the chapter appropriately titled.

> Not a single Stone inscription, Copper plate, Terracotta inscription of classical sanskrit has ever been found nor any Hindu site

Ok here you go.

> All those sanskrit books of Hindus religion were written much later infact they couldnt be written before teh invention of Devanagari script.

Sanskrit is script agnostic language so Sanskrit manuscript are found in every Indian script. If you do not know this then you are not qualified to talk about Sanskrit.

Edit: Hinduism is neither doctrine based nor centralised so every single purana and upnishad isn't authentic. Hindus and are free to discard what doesn't align with Dharma as described in Vedas. What make you think Allopnishad wasn't written by Muslims to convince Hindus?

India is still a Hindu nation so Hindus have suffered but they are still standing. Hindu mashal spirit never surrendered to the invasion otherwise like persia India would also completely vanished.Muslims invaded Sindh in 711 AD. For next 500 years they struggled to move past sindh and never conquered India until Turko Mughal succeeded in 12th century. Even when they ruled they faced continue challenge from the Hindu. For example when Aurangzeb tried imposing zaziya tax on Hindus, shivaji dared him to collect it from Mewar.

Hindus men performed saka (fighting to the last man) and women performed jauhar by burning themselves alive in the fire.

Buddhism on the otherhand suffered due to being non violent and practically vanished.

Could you please provide some references? AFAIK rivers of milk and honey in afterlife are claimed to be offered by certain non Indian religions.

Anything that doesn't suit Western framework of looking at India can't be considered pseudo history. Most revered river in Vedas is Saraswati which disappear more than 10k years ago. Vedas describes river Saraswati in it's fully glory so they have to be much older than. Not every evidence is going to come from archeology and some evidence is yet to be found like chariots from Rakhigadhi which were also considered a fiction.

>there aren't multiple deities to worship and there is no caste system.

There are multiple deities [0] and Buddha didn't oppose caste system. He advocated it on deed and not birth which is not very diffrent from Hindu views of caste. Could you point to some instance from ancient Indians history when discrimination was made on the basis of caste, color, or gender?

The Buddha:– "Not by birth is one an outcast; not by birth is one a brahman. By deeds one becomes an outcast, by deeds one becomes a brahman." (Vasala Sutta 27 )

Mahabharata says the same thing.

Listen about caste, Yaksha dear, not study, not learning is the cause of being "twice-born". Conduct alone is the basis, there is no doubt about it. (M.Bh. Aranya-parva 312. 106.)

Birth based caste is an acquired taste from the Muslim invaders who had and still have a system of discrimination in the form of Islamic doctrine of Kafaat (Al-Hidaya, Book VI, Chapter 55.1). This system is still in practice across middle East[1].

Ofcourse millions of Sanskrit manuscript were produced in fictional Gurukuls by fictional characters who never existed.

> The so called "Gurukul" has never been found at any archaeological site.

Chariot were considered fiction until they were not[0].

Buddhism is not that different from Hinduism. Both coexisted and debated with each other for centuries until islamic invasions started. Buddhism being a pacifist sect fell first.

What makes you think men do that?
sudhirc··on The world has reached 8B people but soon we'll hit a decline we'll never reverse
I agree. Women are much better at organizing societies and solving problem non voilently. India have seen many such queens all through the history[0]. Queens like Ahilyabai Holkar, Naiki Devi, Rani Durgavati are from recent history. Indian society appreciated motherhood. But it also accepted women freely in the roles traditionally reserved for men. This is the society I want with additional reforms.

Issue with recent activism is two folds. Tendency to demean the motherhood and also make men feel guilty for being their natural self. This is I do not want.

What makes you think masculanity == no emotion?

Men wanting propagation of life by desiring offspring makes them not men?

sudhirc··on The world has reached 8B people but soon we'll hit a decline we'll never reverse
I am speaking about gender roles with war as an historical example.

> Are you a man and should I assume you signed up for every war, as your Y chromosone dictated?

Are you arguing men aren't predisposed to solve their problems physically? If this behaviour is uniformly distributed across men and women then why you don"t see equal number of crimes by either genders.

sudhirc··on The world has reached 8B people but soon we'll hit a decline we'll never reverse
Women having equal or higher status doesn't require them to take masculine roles. Feminity is neither submissive nor inferior.

I am aware of status of women in my own country India before invaders came.I won't go into the ancient history. But women like Ahilyabai Holkar, Laxmibai existed not too long ago. Both of them rose to the occassion. But my point stands that women generally do not enjoy these types of roles. Love, affection, child rearing, and home making comes more naturally to them then going out and picking fights.

sudhirc··on The world has reached 8B people but soon we'll hit a decline we'll never reverse
Read history and try to find citation for the contrary of you can.
sudhirc··on The world has reached 8B people but soon we'll hit a decline we'll never reverse
Can you present some evidence from history or psychological evidence?

Throughout the history men have fought war and died in wars. How many wars were fought by women?

In modern times women are in the defense forces, how many women have chosen combat duties and made supreme sacrifices?

Ofcourse there are exception.

sudhirc··on The world has reached 8B people but soon we'll hit a decline we'll never reverse
Feminist made motherhood and home making unsexy so nowadays a lot of women just feel compelled to grind themselves in the jobs they do not want to do.

Men and women are fundamentally different on biological and emotional plane. They complement each other. But instead they are being forced to compete. It's time to recognise and change this.

sudhirc··on The Enduring Genius of ‘The Craft of Dying’
> Not really, if you reject the whole premise of religions as desperate band-aid to that dark and terrible unknown that is death that scares all of us profoundly

Not all cultures are scared of death. For example for Hindus death is like changing clothes. I come from the land where someone dying after living a full life is actually celebrated with dance and music. I seriously didn't get the hue and cry over the death of 90+ years old queen. Were people expecting her to live forever in that frail failing body?

> I would have much much more respect for ie christianity or other religions if they sticked just to those 10 commandments, which basically say 'be a good moral person'.

That's pretty much the essense of eastern dharma Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism,Sikhism etc. There are no commandments. karma returns back what you accrue. Gods can't do zilch to fix bad karma.

sudhirc··on The Enduring Genius of ‘The Craft of Dying’
Which bible version do you recommend?

I am not trying to agitate him. Rather I am trying to have a logical conversation. I do not understand what makes someone in 21st century believe in a God that is willing to let upright people burn in hell just because they do not pledge alliance to him. This idea of eternal saving vs. eternal damnation by all powerful almighty is so contrary to the ideas I have grown up with.

sudhirc··on The Enduring Genius of ‘The Craft of Dying’
> "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more" [Revelation 21:4].

Let's setup a hypothetical scenario. On the day of resurrection, God resurrect 4 people. First one was a slave holding cruel asshole who plundered, raped, and killed all his life. But he believed in Christ. Second was a just man who didn't hurt even an ant knowingly. He too believed in Christ. Third is a man who lived a just and righteous life but refused to believed in Christ. Fourth man is cruel bastard who also doesn't believe in Christ.

What god is going to do with each of them?

> Hinduism started with "a great war". Buddhism started with a war.

This is an interesting take on Hinduism and Buddhism. I am assuming you are referring to Great Wars of Ramayana and Mahabharata. Everyone participating in those was were the followers of Sanatan Dharma which is known as Hinduism today. Both wars weren't fought of religious ground. Buddhism started with Siddhartha noticing dukkha (pain) of life and leaving home to find solution.

What are your sources?

sudhirc··on Ever been accused of sounding too technical? Maybe people just don't care
This post assumes that people on the other end are dealing with you fairly. This is not always the case.

Some times people want to label you as technical and refuse to accept that you can do everything they can do because you can actually go and implement what you are talking.

Their interest is best served when you are implementing and they are doing the talking so they deliberately wants to keep you out of the loop by labeling you too technical.

sudhirc··on How to become a great finisher
Totally agree "Koo and Fishbach's studies consistently show that when we are pursuing a goal and consider how far we've already come, we feel a premature sense of accomplishment and begin to slack off." So Advise is to look at what is left to be done. This advise will surely turn procrastinator into an expert procrastinator :)

If that is the case then you should be force feeding the child to become something they never wanted to be. Children coming from poor families will focus their energies on learning especially when will head from likes of Bill Gates that khan academy is all you need to learn something. They will atleast get started and go for it. Sugata mitra is experiment[1] clearly demonstrate what childrens can do once they are left to their own devices.

Problem with children is not the desire to learn, problem is bad teachers who does nothing but inhibit and curb their student's creativity.
