sucrose··on US ban on Mythos is related to a jailbreak research by Amazon researchers
In the technique example, it sounds like they used a homograph (or homoglyph) method to trick the AI -- almost as if the AI has 'eyes' and reads like a human would. This is so interesting.
sucrose··on How to record and retrieve anything you've ever had to look up twice
I love Pinboard! I was just thinking today about how much I value that service.

sucrose··on Edward Snowden on The Joe Rogan Experience [video]
(Off-topic) Does anyone know why `[flagged]` posts are censored instead of hidden? I often have to use web archives to view them.

I think the parent means "naturally" as in, not our fault
sucrose··on Our Dazzling Night Sky When the Milky Way Collides with Andromeda in 4B Years
Only thing I can think of at the moment, geologically-speaking and within a short time span could be a Super-volcano eruption that engulfs the atmosphere in smoke, causing another ice-age. Another method of danger could be a meteor impact, though it's time span is unknown until we detect it, and not sure if that fits your geological category.

sucrose··on Latest Firefox Brings Privacy Protections Front and Center
The inactive CSS feature is great, I've spent a lot of time cleaning up global stylesheets for my employer recently, and it's a big task. Even though I doubt it catches CSS toggled by Javascript, I'm excited to use it.

sucrose··on US Law Enforcement Traces Bitcoin Transfers to Nab ‘Largest’ Child Porn Site
If you can find an exchange that doesn't require Personal Identifiers (PID) before purchasing, you'd be in luck. Even localbitcoins.com sellers require enormous amount of info about the buyers before they even consider the transaction.
sucrose··on YouTube shuts down music companies’ use of manual copyright claims
They didn't shut it down completely. They only removed the ability to profit from your copyright claims. You're still able to have videos removed or blacklisted for copyright infringement.

MEGA, Mediafire, Zippyshare, Degoo, OneDrive, Google Drive, pCloud, etc. Pick one.
sucrose··on A bug I wish I hadn't caught
Calling this a "bug" is a stretch. Similar to saying `1 == 2` is a bug. Could've been prevented by using distinct ID's in your tables and query criteria. When assigning experience, authenticating, selecting user data, etc., use the user ID.

Usernames are just localized, vanity UUID's for client-side pleasure.

Even their name: Stripe ~ Fyipe... geez. That's bad.
sucrose··on Facebook Research Warned of ‘Tipping Point’ Threat to Core App
Exactly this -- it's gotten to the point for me that anytime I see a post that isn't original, I click the little drop-down arrow (in the upper right-hand corner of the post) and click 'Hide all Posts from [Spammer Name]'.

There's a few friends that I've considered un-following completely because of how many times I've had to do this on their posts. One of them is my brother-in-law -- I called him out on it the last time I saw him, he admitted it's gotten out of hand.

It's baffling how many dumb meme pages there are. But even more baffling, is how many people actually have the motivation to maintain those meme pages. The people that are willingly following them, well, I've lost hope for them.
