sub7··on Every $1 of BTC value responsible for $0.49 in health and climate damages in US
I think Bitcoin is a worthless enabler of the worst humans around but this headline is total bullshit
sub7··on Show HN: Ad Network for Sideprojects
Ad networks are entering a period of great consolidation and distress. Brand this as a community, not an ad network.
sub7··on Ask HN: Advice for finding an entry-level remote job?
Look into Salesforce consulting. You can get trained for free or low $ and make many times the minimum wage WFH. I know people making ~$100/hr and they have more inbound than they can handle.

There's a big gap between demand and supply and it's only growing.

sub7··on Show HN: Endgame – An AWS Pentesting tool to backdoor or expose AWS resources
lol you're about to get a giant offer from Amazon. Tell them you want 10x whatever they first offer and they'll say yes.

sub7··on A Beginner’s Guide to Getting Started with Bitcoin
Here's a better guide: stay far away from this ponzi pseudo asset because it's just a giant game of "I can get out before you" and a few insiders control the exits/have more information than you so you can't win.

Edit: Another sure tell of a scam is when proponents get really triggered by negative chat. If you really believe you're holding something great, you don't care about other opinions. In fact, you want to keep buying more and leave less for the rest.

sub7··on Flexible working shows 55% high performers compared to 36% for 40 hours/week
Oh they definitely exist. If you can manage the ego/personality issues that come with the package they can do to your company in 2-3 months what a team of 20 would take a year+ for.
sub7··on Poll: Do you think the world is generally a meritocracy?
The Gemini is strong in this one
sub7··on LinkedIn’s Alternate Universe
LinkedIn is where my totally unethical former employer offers me "consulting opportunities" at $500/hr every 6 months to keep tabs on whether I still keep their shady shit confidential.
sub7··on Cambridge Bitcoin Electricity Consumption Index
We know exactly what happens in a rush to liquidity. BTC/other non income producing "assets" are the first to go.
sub7··on Cambridge Bitcoin Electricity Consumption Index
Can't wait for the (American/Chinese/Russian) secret 4000 qubit computer to make a mockery of that ledger and all the culty idiots who bought into it.

There's a 0.9+ correlation between Tesla and BTC. If we're not near the end of the bubble, we're definitely not more than a few cycles away.

sub7··on Balthazar Personal Computing Device, a 13” RISC-V laptop
They sell a $280 Windows 10 Pro laptop in India that is not slow at all and has an ethernet port/hdmi port etc. I've found it much more useful than my $5k macbook pro 16

sub7··on Yellen Summons Regulators to Discuss Financial Market Volatility
Guys hate to be the one saying this, but $700k for speaking fees at this level is really not that much money and certainly not enough to influence someone who thinks in 4 commas.

If Citadel accounted for 70% of all her speaking fees, that would warrant a closer look - this is a move along carry on for me.

sub7··on A terminal stock watcher and stock position tracker
You have no idea how useful this is for me. I have nativefier wrapped yahoo finance/msn money/coinstats etc which are all pretty bloated and this gives me all I need with around 1% overhead. Many thanks.
sub7··on The reason Wall Street is terrified of the GME situation
Nobody's terrified and Wall St is going to zero out all these idiots' accounts on the way down.
sub7··on Reddit and Robinhood gamified the stock market, and it’s going to end badly
I dunno, that $21 double spend on 1/21/21 was pretty concerning.

In addition, the fundamentals of Madoff were there too for very long while a greater fool existed. This "asset" doesn't produce anything, doesn't help produce anything, and can never pay a dividend. So IMO it's worth 0.

sub7··on Reddit and Robinhood gamified the stock market, and it’s going to end badly
Literally 1 big guy got fucked. There's 10s of 1000s of little guys that will get fucked when the price is back to 5.

If you can halt trading whenever you want, you can't lose. Wall St big winners here.

sub7··on India proposes law to ban cryptocurrencies, create official digital currency
They've already built BHIM and UPI. People think the government are a bunch of dumb babus but they're sharp as fuck and realized bitcoin is a virus and total lockdown early is best.

If Indians want to go hold + transact cash in random BTC wallets then by all means they are welcome to do so illegally and subject themselves to scrutiny down the road.

sub7··on Tesla’s charging stations left other manufacturers in the dust
That's what they said about project BetterPlace.

Tesla is a bad joke cult company at this price. IMO it's worth $75.

sub7··on Suspended from Google Play for listing supported subtitle formats
lol they'll fix this tomorrow
sub7··on Tell HN: My entire company's Gsuite access has been banned
Welcome to the future friend
sub7··on Delta Chat – decentralized chat via email
Big problem here is using existing email address with other sensitive data in the inbox.

Need to tie up with an email provider and give people an email address on signup. Also needs intelligent grouping of said email with someone's gmail on both the invite/invitee side.

sub7··on Sales of electric cars up by 43% in 2020
If you're the kind of person whose phone frequently runs out of battery or someone who moves around in harsh climates, I'd skip the EV for now.

It's great that cleaner cars are getting adopted faster. The absolute number gap is still very big, the infrastructure challenges are also very big (remember BetterPlace?) and current optimism is very irrational.

sub7··on Retiring Tucows Downloads
Hello! If only protocols weren't treated as cash cows
sub7··on Retiring Tucows Downloads
Disagree. FTP as a protocol made self hosting all kinds of things much easier. We could soon live in a world where people self host their own data powered by protocols that will borrow heavily from FTP.
