strig··on Show HN: Hyperdiv – Reactive, immediate-mode web UI framework for Python
Looks cool. I'd suggest putting a minimal code example and screenshot in both the repo and homepage.
strig··on Why are online recipes so long-winded?
This chrome extension is helpful, shows the recipe automatically in a modal:

strig··on Show HN: OnlyRecipe.app – Remove clutter from recipe sites
Yo thanks for making that extension! I've actually recommended it to a bunch of friends and family

Yukon got rid of DST switch and stays on Pacific daylight time all year round:

strig··on A salt monopoly could spike car accidents in the Midwest
I believe salt stops being effective around -12C, so for colder places it's not an option.

I use Apollo in portrait mode on my ipad, works great.

strig··on Vilified early over Covid-19 strategy, Sweden seems to have scourge controlled
I read it as meaning "former coworker"
strig··on Luna – Cloud gaming service
Yeah, I tried it back when there was a free trial. For what it was, it was pretty impressive to be able to just start playing the game without installing anything. That being said the experience is just plain worse than playing locally. Resolution/graphics quality was worse, input lag was definitely present, and other limitations like lack of crossplay. It's got its niche but I probably won't use it again.
strig··on Epic, Spotify, and Tinder form advocacy group to push for app store changes
Completely disagree. Although I don't play Fortnite, their monetization model is fine. There is no pay to win (don't conflate that with free to play), the only things you can pay for are the battle pass and cosmetic skins. Apex and many other games use this model and it's ultimately good for the consumer in my experience.
strig··on Why ‘Civilization’ is a political masterpiece
In Civ 6 you can create corps/armies with 2/3 units. Still one unit per tile but a bit better than the Civ 5 system.
strig··on Reddit app got 50M downloads by making mobile web experience miserable
There are lots of great apps for android, I use one called Relay. It's about as good as apollo, IMO.
strig··on Lego IKEA Bygglek – First Look
I imagine video games have eaten up a lot of the market for traditional toys like Lego.
strig··on Boom Supersonic hopes to test-fly its supersonic plane in 2021

strig··on What killed Quayside, Sidewalk Labs’ ambitious smart city in Toronto?
> Most hesitate at allowing their employers to track them after hours

Is that a real thing?

strig··on What killed Quayside, Sidewalk Labs’ ambitious smart city in Toronto?
Agreed. Most people I know were at least curious/interested about the project, but also had serious reservations about Google's privacy and data collection and wanted stricter oversight on how their personal data would be used.
strig··on Regional Air Mobility: Why we don’t plan to operate flights under 20km
Obviously you have your personal driver pick you up and bring you to your 10k sqft "cottage" /s
strig··on The War on Upstart Fiber Internet Providers
Beanfield is especially amazing. They recently reduced (!) the rates of their gigabit service to $50/month from $100, and increased everyone's service to gigabit if they weren't already on it.
strig··on Show HN: Aviary.sh – A tiny Bash alternative to Ansible
I really hate that fabric got rid of roles in the new version. I want to be able to still do "fab task -R prod".
strig··on SpaceX applies to offer high-speed internet service to Canadians
Just curious, how does the quality/speed of service of a wireless ISP compare to a wired or satellite connection? Somewhere in between, I'd imagine?
strig··on Two Screens
It's not a waste if I use it.
strig··on Two Screens
For me, the second screen isn't there for me to focus on. It's there to keep the focus on the main screen. I keep my less-used programs (spotify, discord, etc) on the secondary display so I don't have to constantly alt-tab on my main display.
strig··on Shopify Goes Digital by Default
Exactly. Instead of going out for lunch I can pop over to the grocery store for a few things and grab a sandwich while I'm there.
strig··on Shopify Goes Digital by Default
I really couldn't disagree more. While I understand the desire to work with your coworkers in person, the benefits of working from home are huge for me.

No commuting, which on its own is reason enough for WFH since it's such a massive waste of time. Commuting would add an extra 10 hours to my workweek, and I don't get paid for it. Add in things like control over your own workspace, no "open office" nonsense, access to your own kitchen/bathroom, together all outweighs the benefits of working from the office.

The ideal situation for me would be WFH by default, with the option to work from an office if you want to or for specific situations.
