streetnigga··on Poll: How many bitcoins have you lost with MtGox shutdown?
Zero here, I've been treating BTC like Paypal balances. Cash out to native currency ASAP. Godspeed others.

edit: To those polling in at over 1000, yikes. Hopefully you 13 (so far) are joking around. Business or personal? Any insurance?

streetnigga··on MtGox.com is offline
So very true if you have to peg that 400mm to a specific exchange rate for another currency.

You can ascertain the value of 1 BTC in your favored currency rather easily given a choice of marketplaces. Less so with 100, or 10000+. Most market-places couldn't handle the volume without a substantial shift in price before your 400mm mark was hit for say, USD.

That said BTC seems to want to reach the type of ubiquity that allowed USD to be a universal currency of sorts during it's heyday. With means to convert in and out being varied from the strictly regulated to the strictly unregulated.

Now let's see how long the blockchain can live.

You are the one that brought up conspiracy in reference to Hastings[0]. Stop lying as if I was the one to inject it into the topic of spying. This disinformation bull your are pulling is seriously detrimental to any possible discussion.

To everyone not tptacek: Look at my comments, none suggest Hastings died due to tptacek suggested conspiracy.

You are the one that brought up his death as if it was a conspiracy[0] in response to my linking[1] of one Hasting's reports on spying[2]. No one asked you to believe in a conspiracy. You deflected from the original topic of spying with it, and continue to do so by stating I was the one that promoted it.

Retract your outright fallacy.

Why did you make like light of Michael Hasting's death then denigrate Barrett Brown[0] after irrelevantly bringing up Monsanto and Nickelback[1] in that thread 36 days ago instead of discussing the topic (or not engaging) like a reasonable person?

You could of had the advantage of people not knowing more about this type of work enlisted by governments/carried out by for-profit concerns, instead you choose to be highly corrosive in an attempt to elicit some reaction.

But by golly here you are again doing the same. So while your attention is clearly engaged upon me, could you answer the question above?

If you want to look for examples of companies in the US and elsewhere engaging in activities mentioned in this article against political dissidents, look no further than the HB Gary email leak of years back. I referenced such works here[0] after Obama's announcement of NSA 'reforms' that hinted at offloading more sensitive data to private companies.

I would like to bring the attention of people who read this article back to the tactics such as the real-time spying on Wikileaks viewers. Tactics discussed by the likes of HB Gary's Aaron Barr like going after activists by their families and careers, or the US Chamber of Commerce's interest in such work.

There is a profound amount of moral hazards here that companies are wading deep into for cash and possible immunity such as what AT&T was granted.

streetnigga··on Why I’ll be Pirating Adobe’s Products From Now On
"Are you having difficulty understanding Scott's message or intent?"

Absolutely not.

streetnigga··on Why I’ll be Pirating Adobe’s Products From Now On
Well for one I think without giving a hash value for the data to be downloaded, say a known good torrent, this can only result in tears for the end user. Adobe pirate releases, notorious for being infected.

But to the point of your comment I would be wary of just considering it downloading. If, again using the bittorrent file transfer idea, you download a copy you could very well be considered to be making available the intellectual property for illegal obtainment. I personally wouldn't want to be stating "support said it was OK" if my ISP or an IP protection firm's lawyers take action. Since Adobe has worked with ISPs to monitor and issue complaints I wouldn't put this out of the realm of possibility.

streetnigga··on Footage released of Guardian editors destroying Snowden hard drives
How can one say the editors did Levinson a favor by holding back the story? Is propagating the idea that Iran or other nation has some innocent civilian when he is really CIA beneficial? Wouldn't that just solidify a potential negative reaction from said government who is apparently rightfully holding a foreign agent who was working on their soil?

In the end your comment seems to support the parent. NYTimes sits on stories at the behest of the US government, only releases it when another agency beats them to the punch.

streetnigga··on The world’s rich stay rich while the poor struggle to prosper
If the topic is use of wealth, 'social signals' then monies spent on Yacht races by owners like the one linked is applicable. I do not think there could be a bigger waste of resources than 'social signalling' by the wealthy with Yacht based fundraisers.

Essentially I would go the more direct route, not with events that allow you to use your toys. Not sure where you getting signals of irrationality or lack of open minded discussion. Is it because the word Yacht brings up images of extreme waste instead of philanthropy, resulting in me linking to the likes of Mr Kristallnacht? How well is that social signalling going if this happens to people?

streetnigga··on The world’s rich stay rich while the poor struggle to prosper
Yachts are also good for committing manslaughter[0]. This is coming from the wealthy man who thinks focus on the wealthy means a Kristallnacht.

"Writing from the epicenter of progressive thought, San Francisco, I would call attention to the parallels of fascist Nazi Germany to its war on its 'one percent,' namely its Jews, to the progressive war on the American one percent, namely the "rich," Perkins, a founding member of the venture capital firm Kleiner, Perkins, Caulfield and Byers, wrote in a letter to the editor in The Wall Street Journal on Friday.

streetnigga··on Patch's new owner lays off staff in 1:39 conference call
Citation would be needed since I've never seen court insist that the ability to feel sorry (or just saying it to placate others) means guilt for an accused act.

Edit: Wouldn't that be something though? It would enable someone to argue innocence due to lying wholesale to someone's face saying you were sorry.

Sure you'd have to admit to being a liar in court but whatever. After winning slam dunk since this venue is apparently void of evidence, say sorry to the court for the problems (leave the judge wondering) and call it a day.

streetnigga··on Middle East correspondent for WSJ: Heavy artillery can be heard in Homs Syria
As I posted just recently today, Assad's Syrian state news posted a story about Pope Francis being held hostage in Homs Syria. Homs is subject of a starvation blockade by the regime with their representative for the Geneva 2 delegation denying aid into siege, opting to suggest evacuation of women and children leaving males for the military and militia to deal with.

Now as peace talks are used to further expunge Homs artillery rains on it's population.

Eve Online is a place where you literally see people grind away to make money for a living, but you don't care because you are working some angle against their trades while battling effing pirates gate camping at Amamake. No one really shouts racial slurs in anger, more disinformation or propaganda while shooting the shit. There is power alliances you cannot reckon with, there are trolls you cannot defeat.

streetnigga··on Halluxwater: NSA Exploit of the Day
No problemo. On the topic of TAO I highly doubt subversion at the factory. Though I do believe the monolithic designs of the day from Samsung and Apple surely delight intel agencies like the NSA. Must shorten delays in redirecting shipments substantially!
streetnigga··on Eve Online wages largest war in its 10 year history
I used to play, maintained being independent up until I got my blockade runner and some game time, then backed off to do life things. I never really did get into the mining since the end result would having to be to trade, so I put focus on the market and finding a niche as a middle-man in one place or another.

For what it is, it is a well developed community a cut above say, Call of Duty. Or at the very least far more advanced at scamming.

streetnigga··on Eve Online wages largest war in its 10 year history
Jita my dear, I miss you.

There was a period were some alliance set siege to the gates in. System time was slowed to the extreme.

Heavyweight traders dropped out, I ran my Minmatar craft about making enough coin to pay for several PLEX. After the siege profit margins slimmed back to their normal percentages.

Lovely game.

streetnigga··on [dead]
Or how I learned how to stop worrying and love the propaganda.

Right now the Assad regime delegation at Geneva 2 has denied blockade access to Homs. Their current tactic is calling for evacuation of women and children. This is a death sentence to the males.

For the past few years I've been documenting the goings-on in Syria, from peaceful protests[0] to the weapons system fingered for the chemical weapons attacks[1] before the attack took place.

Watching SANA, Syrian State news, gives a good insight into what shill social accounts will be promoting tomorrow, and what has the regime's interest. When the Assad regime was holding a 2012 referendum vote they were chasing civilians around in armored vehicles in Homs[2]. This was even before part of it was walled in[3].

The live broadcasts from 2011 and 2012 captivated many, this post is just an update using SANA's delightful propaganda as a stage for a terrible topic.

streetnigga··on Halluxwater: NSA Exploit of the Day
"compromise of all units of one or more models in the factory (you)"

_What_

I never mentioned anything like that. tptacek suggested that is what I meant, I directly said that was not. I've said I think subverting or weakening hardware/software for surveillance would be bad thing, not that the NSA has backdoored 100% of Huawei's products. I asked tptacek to stop making distortions because of this right here. I am running out of different ways to state this, why is is tptacek a primary source for what others say?

Back onto the comment I responded to initially, Chinese hardware makers do sell to the US so methods to subvert their devices do have US domestic ramifications. This would be contrary to what parent comment suggested.

streetnigga··on Halluxwater: NSA Exploit of the Day
I think many systems commercial and otherwise will be open to exploitation. I don't necessarily object to the NSA or another government's intel service hunting those bugs either to protect against or to exploit. I do object overall to the creation of exploits or the weakening of systems.

In the absence of a perfect system of governance I feel we should default to not giving unspeakable power to a concentrated few. The slides on the tools were leaked out of a for-profit firm that contracts for the NSA, next the tools themselves like music industry cohort MediaDefender[0] had happen to them? Or even worse a leak of a database the tools sift through like the Assad regime's BlueCoat[1] logs on political/sexual/religious targets?

Another US firm Palantir was itself tangled in a scheme Glenn Greenwald reported pre-Snowden regarding the targeting of political activists via a solicitation of work through Hunton & Williams made by the US Chamber of Commerce[2]. I can't trust the US intel community as far as I can toss it when conflicts of interest are apparent at every level of clearance given to contractors. So I will probably frown upon most alphabet boys exploitation of capabilities.

streetnigga··on Halluxwater: NSA Exploit of the Day
It's not the most positive exchange but I have yet to have one with him that didn't result in the insertion of distortions or focus on the people carrying a message instead of the message. This was made clear with Hastings and Brown themselves being focused upon instead of the content of their articles.

After things like Nickelback started to be brought up.. I stopped believing responses were being made in good faith. Fast forward to now and apparently I am saying 100% of that maker's devices are backdoored by the NSA, any other interpretation "doesn't make sense."

While I acknowledge this is a public forum I would hope tptacek would also acknowledge I asked him not to engage me anymore previously, before he announces the forum's open presence as his mandate to respond.

streetnigga··on Halluxwater: NSA Exploit of the Day
How on Earth are you parsing my comment where highlighting a Chinese hardware maker's US arm is stating that 100% of the hardware has been backdoored by the NSA? I didn't even mention the agency. Just US domestic operations of a Chinese hardware maker.

I was nice enough to cite the persons and companies involved in that previous thread, including the detained Barret Brown. You addressed his drug use without the topic at hand that he reported on? I mention an article written by Michael Hastings that referenced Brown, and you insert bullcrap as if I said intel agencies killed him? You went on further to bring up Monsanto and Nickelback?

I ask you to not engage me anymore for a reason. You are a prick, tptacek. You are a prick.

streetnigga··on Halluxwater: NSA Exploit of the Day
Good thing I didn't say they did. I referenced Huawei USA as to highlight there are indeed domestic facets to this story. I am going to guess given your comment you can with authority detail what devices are and are not backdoored. If you cannot I don't see what your comment is meant to convey other than that 100% of Huawai hardware has not been subverted.

Don't start this tactic of distorting someone's commentary again, the last time you decided to respond to me you went about aggressively making up bull-cock as if that is what I wrote. When it was pointed out and asked of you to address the subject instead of bringing up unrelated rubbish you only dug in changing to a belittling tone.

Overall I would rather you not respond to me at all. Thanks.
