stkrzysiak··on Apple acquires Dark Sky
I like the UI, and I'll commit for now, but the end game for the constant churn of useful weather apps is an open source app that can't be sold. Someday someone will offer you X dollars and you'd be a fool not to accept and us users will be doing this rodeo all over. Just remember us when your partying on your p-diddy yacht.
stkrzysiak··on Ripgrep 11 Released
Here I thought I was hip using ag, the announcement blog post linked in this thread is fascinating and thorough, looks like it's time for me to try out rg.
stkrzysiak··on IBM has decided to co-locate its US marketing department
I know someone who took an office gig after 5+ yrs of remote due to lack of the 'office experience'. He's a sane, smart guy, I think he just got tired of being home all the time. That or his kids reached the obnoxious age.
stkrzysiak··on Ask HN: What do you use to align your daily todos with your long term goals?
A lot of my long term goals involve daily engagement, so I use a recurring reminder service(http://coach.me) to stay on top of them. The app reminds me to check off items and promotes streaks.
stkrzysiak··on WordPress on .NET
Honestly, I think I'll take 'average' php code over 'average' .NET code, I just did a 18 mo. stint at a .NET enterprise environment after 8+ yrs of PHP(Drupal, so maybe the bar is higher, not saying it is, but maybe).
stkrzysiak··on Ask HN: What is the most exciting development in your field right now?
I've been researching container orchestration recently and I personally don't see the incentive to jump into containers from an infrastructure perspective. I think using packer/vagrant/ansible is pretty easy and meets my needs. The orchestration overhead for containers seems like overhead I don't need just yet. So the big question I've been asking myself is at what point will a AWS AMI be less versatile than a docker container, assuming it originated w/ Packer and I can build images to other clouds with packer. From a developer perspective I am very excited about containers and believe local dev w/ docker is warranted.
stkrzysiak··on InfraKit, for creating and managing declarative, self-healing infrastructure
Reminds me of packer, after first glance, the whole 'working with azure/aws' aspect. So I'd be curious how it differs there.
stkrzysiak··on Expensify's firing strategy
Nice try Jeff Dean.
stkrzysiak··on React Podcast: React Europe Recap and CSS Debate
I've been enjoying this podcast, keep up the great work!
stkrzysiak··on Visual Studio 2015 Final Release Event
Vim itself had a decent built-in tutorial, just launch vim and I think its the default prompt. People have gamified vim hot keys too, check out shortcut foo and Google 'vim' golf.

stkrzysiak··on Show HN: We Just Re-Launched BurningManRides.com for 2012
N/M, after scrolling down I saw the burning man ticket giveaway by ride joy, who seem to offer that service: http://ridejoy.com/
stkrzysiak··on Show HN: We Just Re-Launched BurningManRides.com for 2012
Cool, I've always wondered why there is nothing like this for general rides. Why niche on burning man, why not a general ride board?
