HN Marketplace? I've got a Chompi in Berlin which I'd be willing to pass on. Contact in Profile
stigi··on Tiny $70 Xteink X3 e-reader puts Silicon Valley to shame
I charge mine every 3-4 months... (almost never). Was expecting this to be a problem for me, but it turned out I do not care.
stigi··on Tiny $70 Xteink X3 e-reader
Crosspoint is the way to go, imho. Together with the CrossX app (https://github.com/jtvargas/crosspoint-app) it's so nice! Nicely supports sending web articles as epubs onto the X3/X4 device (I use X3).
stigi··on Organic Maps
Yes, I like wanderer (http://wanderer.to/) a lot!

The difference is the planning, I'm building my tool around a collaborative use case. I'm often doing multi day bikepacking trips with my close friends. The planner supports real time collaboration, so multiple people can plan on the same route together.

Also for me it's an experiment in AI driven development (which I hope won't alienate people to much).

stigi··on Organic Maps
In fact they are called "Public GPS Traces" and can be enabled in the OSM layer inspector. I am not sure if anyone started distilling track recommendations from them yet though.

Here's a link that has traces enabled (aka layer "G"): https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=15/52.47166/13.40590&laye...

There's also a list of recent uploaded traces: https://www.openstreetmap.org/traces

I'm working on something that is best described as Komoot meets Mastodon. Self hostable and federated. It's pretty early, and the UX is pretty bare bones still.

If you're keen on checking it out you should be able to find it in my recent Github contributions, following the link in my profile.

OSM has a heatmap feature. Users can contribute tracks and feed into it:

stigi··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (February 2025)
Hi Roddy, Not sure what a good way to reach out is, but I saw the JD and would like to chnnect over it. I found your linkedIn and send you a request. Alternatively you can look up my details in my HN profile. Looking forward to chat!
stigi··on Dawarich: Self-hosted alternative to Google Location History
Funny enough I’m (east) German and my first association was the Russian word “tovarisch” (meaning comrade or friend).

Wondering what Dr. Freud would say about that…

stigi··on Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (July 2024)

  Location: Berlin, Germany
  Remote: Yes
  Willing to relocate: No
Technologies: Engineering leadership, React-Native, Clojure, TypeScript
  Résumé/CV: https://ullrich.is/20240618-resume.pdf
  Email: hn-hire-me@ullrich.is
I'm a mobile product developer, turned Engineering Manager. My resume spans from freelancer to founder, from Soundcloud, via Facebook/Meta to Pitch.com.

I'm looking for EM roles, or mobile dev roles with the goal of building a product and a team around it.

stigi··on Not all TLDs are Created Equal
In a few days my domain `foodba.by` is expiring after I stopped transferring funds to Belarus after the role the country took during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Glad that side project never took of :-)

stigi··on Teenage Engineering – Choir
A set of 8 wooden dolls with build in speaker, CPU, Bluetooth and accelerometer.

Singing from a set of ~20 pre programmed songs they "perform" together. Also when you own an OP-1 field (not sure if the original also works) you can join as the conductor and make them sing your own composition (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Pcp0au-IBY).

Last but not least, this time the price point does also not disappoint: 249€ per doll.

stigi··on EP–133
you're username suggests so :)
stigi··on EP–133
Thanks for the pointers everybody. They make sense. The frustration of seeing a 299 price tag and then being hit with a 349 price after one click on the store link is bad.. Didn't stop me from buying though :D
stigi··on EP–133
I don't know how they do their math, but they advertise it for 299USD but when I open the store it's sold for 349EUR which today converts to 380USD... That's a 30% difference that hurts.
stigi··on California and Florida now lead the country in climate change risks

stigi··on WWDC 2023 Livestream
MULTIPLETIMERS
stigi··on TP–7 Field Recorder
There's a whole page dedicated to it: https://teenage.engineering/designs/

Some notables:

  The Playdate (as mentioned)
  The Ikea Frevens series
  Impossible I-1 instant camera
  Mayku 3D printer
stigi··on Teenage Engineering TP–7 field recorder
I would not call it "earlier" if it was posted 10 hours after this ;)

But indeed, the other post gained more traction and is worth checking.

stigi··on Incident with Actions, API Requests, Codespaces and Pages
Wild guess: Are you working at Sendgrid?
stigi··on Ask HN: Technology/creative books and games for my daughter (7 years)
This sound so cool!

Does anybody know of similar games for non English speaking folks? My kid only speaks German and I have the feeling playing our first RPG will benefit from us all being on the same page in the same language.

Thanks!

stigi··on Is this poison ivy?
Leafs of three let it be. Leafs of four eat some more.

stigi··on V002 Camera Live – Zoom with Your DSLR as a Webcam via USB
When I read this I ran to get my camera and my computer!

First downer: My X-T20 is not supported :(

Second downer: Windows only?

So sad right now :(

I would not dare :)

But the title would actually overrun the limit by 4 characters. But I still thought it would be interesting to share. I love the colorful description in the name. Also I like That German is not the only language with loooong names :)

stigi··on React Native for Windows Performance Chart
The topic is interesting, but just submitting the chart doesn't help a lot. Mind providing a source for the chart, or even resubmit the entire article?

Another DB that plays in that field is Watermelon DB (https://github.com/Nozbe/WatermelonDB) which supports react-native based on SQLite and the web based on the LokiJS in memory DB.
