A good complement for Layoffs.fyi (Sometimes the source of a layoffs.fyi entry will be an article written by a journalist who saw the WARN notice on WARNTracker)
Most of these press releases from companies conducting layoffs aggregated, and the exact US count cannot be determined (example 10,000 laid off from Meta worldwide https://about.fb.com/news/2023/03/mark-zuckerberg-meta-year-... )
The closest thing you can get to US-only layoff count is to look at WARN data (government mandated data). (I run https://www.warntracker.com/, a aggregator website for this government layoff dataset)
While 48% of the Forbes Cloud 100 have had layoffs since 2022, only 1 of the 5 (20%) remote companies on the list have had layoffs.
The 5 remote companies on the list: Vercel - no layoffs (#95 on the Cloud 100) Zapier - no layoffs (#13 on the Cloud 100) Grafana Labs - no layoffs (#37 on the Cloud 100) dbt Labs - no layoffs (#79 on the Cloud 100) Attentive - 15% layoff in Jan 2023 (#10 on the Cloud 100)
Why might this be? Is it possible that remote companies are more robust to the current layoff wave? Is this just the result of a small, non-stat-sig sample size?

The gist is that yes, more ICs were laid off, but there are also more ICs overall.
