Looks like the link from Hacker News doesn't work, but if you navigate to the PDF from the blog it does. Post is here: https://fabiensanglard.net/gebbdoom/index.html

stevenspasbo··on Meta plans ‘Zuck bucks’ virtual coins for Facebook and Instagram users
> Mark Zuckerberg is looking to develop virtual coins, nicknamed “Zuck bucks” by staff

That's not what the actual name will be.

stevenspasbo··on Ask HN: Any weird tips for weight loss?
> if you're a typical WFH software engineer living in the suburbs, you're probably going to have to spend 45 min to an hour every day walking for exercise to achieve that number

Now, obviously this isn't for everyone, but my partner and I adopted a dog and she needs to be walked once or twice a day for about 45 minutes. It's been a great way to get us out of the house every day.

There was a famous case of this not too long ago. The painting was "only" from 1930.

stevenspasbo··on Mercer Family Grants $1M to MAPS for PTSD Research with MDMA
I've recently been reading Dark Money by Jane Mayer and the family is discussed quite a bit. I'm surprised they're supporters of MAPS.

Both bash and zsh have the option histverify that will expand the !! like so:

You can then modify the command if you want to.

There was a small controversy when StrongLoop purchased the Express repository from TJ, the creator of the project.
stevenspasbo··on Young Americans Have No Interest in the Most In-Demand Jobs, New Data Finds
This article isn't very surprising, of course the kids are going to pick glamorous careers like "musician, athlete or video game designer".

When I was in high school I had to write a paper on what I wanted to be, and I picked video game programmer.

I just can't imagine that very many kids would pick janitor, landscaper, or security guard as dream jobs.

stevenspasbo··on Ask HN: Best Object-Oriented Programming Book
Check out the Head First: Object-Oriented Analysis and Design. It's pretty basic, but would be a good intro if you're brand new to OO.

stevenspasbo··on [dead]
This is satire, for those of you thinking it's a real article.

I was on the fence about letting people imagine it's real, but I'll be a bubble burster.

stevenspasbo··on Ask HN: IDE Right Screen == Better Problem Solving Skills?
I recently moved desks and had to switch the side my external monitor was on. I have to admit I felt "slower" with the new setup, but after a few days I felt like I was back to normal.

stevenspasbo··on Why Learn Basic Electronics? [video]
Electronics are something I've been interested in for a while, but I'm not really sure where to start. I have an arduino uno and some LEDs, but does anyone know of any good resources for beginners?
stevenspasbo··on Ask HN: Average savings per month?
I live in Oakland with my girlfriend and we rent a 1 bedroom apartment.

My roughly 7k (pre-tax) a month goes to:

28% Taxes

10% Rent

15% ESPP

7% 401k

4% Vanguard

Most of that is automatically deducted (except for rent), and I usually end up with only a few hundred at the end of the month, meaning I'm saving about 25%. The rest goes towards groceries, car insurance, student loans, and way too many concerts/restaurants/nights out with friends.

I should probably increase my savings considerably but I like the lifestyle I'm living too much.
