OT, but what was the purpose of this transfer, expecting appreciation of currency?

With money transfers, one should always send a small amount and confirm receipt, rather then sending giant amounts ?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Tom_Parr

He existed and even thrived on a diet of “subrancid cheese and milk in every form, coarse and hard bread and small drink, generally sour whey”, as William Harvey wrote. … "On this sorry fare, but living in his home, free from care, did this poor man attain to such length of days".

Thomas Howard brought him to London to meet King Charles I.

Parr was treated as a spectacle in London, but the change in food and environment apparently led to his death.

In related article http://www.reuters.com/article/us-google-selfdrivingcar-idUS...

"Google said in the filing the autonomous vehicle was traveling at less than 2 miles per hour, while the bus was moving at about 15 miles per hour."

Google said in a statement on Monday that "we clearly bear some responsibility, because if our car hadn’t moved, there wouldn’t have been a collision. That said, our test driver believed the bus was going to slow or stop to allow us to merge into the traffic, and that there would be sufficient space to do that."

stefap2··on New Jersey School Eases Pressure on Students, Baring an Ethnic Divide (2015)
TLDR The school district, was facing a crisis. Its students were overburdened and stressed out, juggling too much work and too many demands.

Superintendent urged parents to join him in advocating a holistic, “whole child” approach to schooling that respects “social-emotional development” and “deep and meaningful learning” over academics alone.

Superintendent suggestion revealed a divide roughly along racial lines:

On one side are white parents who has come to see the district’s increasingly pressured atmosphere as antithetical to learning. “My son was in fourth grade and told me, ‘I’m not going to amount to anything because I have nothing to put on my résumé,’ ” one parent said.

On the other side are parents like Mike Jia, one of the thousands of Asian-American professionals, who said Superintendent reforms would amount to a “dumbing down” of his children’s education.

TLDR Corbis, the photography archive owned by Bill Gates that includes some of the most famous pictures ever made, has sold its image and licensing division to a Chinese company.

Corbis, based in Seattle, was founded by Mr. Gates in 1989 under the name Interactive Home Systems with a vision that people would one day decorate their homes with revolving digital displays of artwork. That did not happen, but over the years the company acquired an enormous library of images.

But it has been the transfer of images from the 1989 crackdown in Tiananmen Square, an event that China’s Communist Party has aggressively blotted out of public view ever since, that has perhaps raised the most alarm.

“It should not be treated as a surprise if a Chinese media company’s decisions and actions were aligned with the policies and practices of the Chinese government."

stefap2··on Vietnam: Officials probe mysterious 'space balls'
Three minutes later, the protective payload fairing was jettisoned, unveiling the spacecraft and the Fregat-SB upper stage.[1]

The stage is made up of six overlapping spherical sections, only four of which serve as propellant tanks. Two remaining spheres are actually instrument sections, one containing unpressurized avionics, which can function in vacuum of space and another, pressurized, section holding a flight control computer, which requires a temperature-controlled environment.

At least four spherical gas tanks with a diameter of 375 millimeters and a capacity of 23 liters are carried onboard Fregat. [2]
