Maybe transfer your H1-B to a new employer that will sponsor you?

Hi Peter, I've heard people mentioning they transitioned from TN visa to green card sponsorship, my understanding is that this isn't allowed, have you heard of this?
stealthefocus··on Announcing Flutter Release Preview 1
I've been using flutter now for a few months and I love the workflow I can get in, quickly iterating and seeing the changes immediately. A side effect of the hot reloading I found is that I am able to build quickly and not worry about the style until later because I know changing the style is relatively easy and quick to iterate on itself.

If you use VSCode, it really is a first class citizen, which makes me happy as I am most familiar with that editor.

Overall I haven't been this happy with development in a while.

stealthefocus··on Why We Disagree with The New York Times
The one thing I really miss since leaving fb in March, are the groups. Things like playing in local sports pickup games are easier because everyone has fb so the groups were more active. I now use my wife's account for this, but I really wish another option had some traction, then I could leave fb forever.
stealthefocus··on Ask HN: Has it become harder for Canadians to get work in the US on a TN visa?
I don't believe you're reading that correctly. First of all the manual you reference is not the law, its the guidelines for an officer looking at you at the POE.

An intent to immigrate in the future that is in no way connected to the proposed immediate trip.

How I think a reasonable officer would read this: If you are coming in for TN and they ask you about you intent if you say after the next 3 years I am planning on moving back to Canada but in 10 years I want to try to immigrate, that shouldn't disqualify you for the immediate trip.

The trip is the duration of your current stay, not just the entry.

What position is your TN for?
stealthefocus··on Ask HN: Has it become harder for Canadians to get work in the US on a TN visa?
This is bad advice, the moment you apply for a green card you're non-compliant with dual intent of your current TN status.

What category was the job, engineer or CSA?
stealthefocus··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (April 2018)
This is average for the area and if you can be remote you can live comfortably here. I think the fact they posted the salary is a good thing. IMO there shouldn't be some threshold to make the post relevant, if someone wants the job, it's not like they hid the salary from them.
stealthefocus··on There's a Persistent Hum in Windsor, Ontario, and No One Knows Why
I lived through this when i went to the University of Windsor, it's hard to describe to people it doesn't bother. The hum would keep me up and my girlfriend at the time almost never noticed. It was like being at a loud concert where you can feel the vibrations in your chest.

I didn't see SAP's cloud BI tool https://www.sap.com/canada/products/cloud-analytics.html
stealthefocus··on Miranda: A non-strict functional language with polymorphic types (1985) [pdf]
Yup I learned it there. It's there for the basics of CS like learning recursion they don't really mention if it is functional tbh.
stealthefocus··on Facebook React.js License
Perhaps. But what if Oracle buys facebook or Zuckerberg steps down and a litigious CEO takes over. This is a major concern for lawyers in large companies.
stealthefocus··on 2016 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine Is Awarded to Yoshinori Ohsumi [pdf]
This leans more to the physiology side of the prize I believe.
stealthefocus··on Vancouver Doesn't Have Uber
I'm a Vancouver resident and the transit is great. The Skytrain is spotty in its coverage. No East/West travel, which I believe is what they're referring to.

Also after using Uber in Toronto, I am super jealous and want it here.

stealthefocus··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (July 2015)
Are you accepting applications from outside the EU (I am in Canada)?
