staz··on Ask HN: Would you pay for beautifully designed Linux software?
I would say no.

But in reality I already paid for JetBrains while I would never have expected to, so why not?

The only other software I have bought for Linux are games I think

Gdpr request maybe?
staz··on Gitlab ‘rethinking’ third-party telemetry
> So, for users who have integrations with our API this will cause a brief pause in service via our API until the terms have been accepted by signing in to the web interface.

What a fucking botched way to do this. Breaking all automation at a moment notice. They should have announced the change long ago. Make an advance clear deadline for accepting the ToS and then after the deadline blocked the API.

staz··on More MS-DOS Games Playable at the Internet Archive
As a non-American, this helped me finally play that "Oregon Trail" I heard so much about on the Internet, cause apparently every American teenager had to play it at some point.

IANAL but doesn't `irrevocable` means that user legally can't remove their own content from the platform?

> If you get caught by the police you have a human to reason with. "Listen officer, I have all the paperwork right here I simply haven't gotten it to the DMV yet because today is a weekend and they are only open weekdays".

These sort of stuff tends to discriminate against certain segment of societies, like you are let go if you are white and fined if you aren't

staz··on Show HN: Internet Object – a thin, robust and schema oriented JSON alternative
agree, would love to see a bit more example, especially complex one.

Also I don't think there is any public library for it yet?

In (belgian) French we use "mobilette" or "scooter" for the vespa-like ones. and "trottinette" for the kick-like ones

staz··on Ask HN: What laptop computer do you currently use?
> Do you also have a Sanyo battery?

No idea

> Did you often completely discharge it? I heard that charge/discharge patterns can have a large influence on the capacity.

yes. I heard recently that there was also the trick/settings of not recharging it completely but I may be too late for that. Also wondering if the Linux battery management may have something to do with it.

staz··on Ask HN: What laptop computer do you currently use?
Laptop model: Lenovo Thinkpad T460p

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz

RAM: 16GB

Screen: 14" 2560x1440 usually dock it with a secondary screen

Personal comments:

* It's my sole computer so I use it for everything, from working to gaming (it has an integrated Nvida 940MX)

* The battery has gone shitty after 3 years and only hold 1 hours of charge so I need to buy a replacement. A part from that I really like it.

* Previously I had second hand Dell my whole life I don't regret the switch too much even if the XPS 13 is really tempting me. I also hesitate to buy a secondary laptop for my travel abroad which would be smaller and lighter and that I could afford to get stolen but I'm still on the fence.

* I find the dock really nice but wish they were cheaper

never heard of it.
staz··on Instagram Advertising: Do you know it when you see it?
I think that's where all that SEO stuff has lead us, only the one with stuffs to sell do it (or pay someone to do it) and so end up on top of the rankings.
staz··on Ask HN: Does anybody else uses only laptop as a main screen?
If I only use my laptop with the attached keyboard for too long I get neck pain. Something to do with the posture I guess. Don't you? How do you place your screen and keyboard?
staz··on Ask HN: How do you relax without drugs/alcohol/sex/exercise?
Meditation, cooking with my SO, playing video games, reading and napping.

Unexpectedly for me another thing that is becoming relaxing as I grow older is to use my free time to stay on top of my household's chores. Just knowing I wont have the stress of having to rush them latter on because "oh fuck it's Monday morning and I don't have a clean shirt". Still far from perfect at it because procrastination run deep in me, but it's something I'm trying to slowly improve.

It's a jean and a hoodie. I think you are reading bit much into it

staz··on Ask HN: A browser extension to auto-archive every Hacker News story you read?
don't know if Polar already has that but what I liked with Instapaper was that you could add a page to it with just a simple bookmarklet. No complicated plugin. just a quick click in the bookmark toolback to add an article.
