I'm Stavros. If you need to contact me, my email is stavros at stavros dot io. If you email me, mention "aubergine" in the subject so I know it's not spam. Also, LLM-written emails get marked as spam.

My website, where I write about the projects I work on, is https://www.stavros.io.

I'm also @stavros on Twitter.

Now that it's OSS, I'm sure plenty of people will build and sell it. Hell, you might be able to just get it off Ali, as well.

> Half of its six biggest diesel plants cut or halted output this month

Claude chose a weird turn of phrase here. Does this mean "the smallest of the three was the sixth largest"? If the Ukrainians hit a tiny plant, will it now be "three of its hundred biggest diesel plants"?

Don't try to increase your B2B sales. Instead, try to realise the truth: there is no B2B sales.

I wouldn't mind LinkedIn at all if I could turn off the feed.

Damnit. I need to try harder to reach the level of the average poster. Sadly, downwards.

Claude does pick the topics! I worry I did too good a job steering it. I found a few of them insightful too, but it doesn't matter, what matters is that they're same old "They were doing a thing. It failed." Claude writing you see everywhere, intensifying the feeling that nobody on LinkedIn has a pulse.
stavros··on LinkedIn Larpmaxxing
I hate LinkedIn so much I made a slop cannon for it. I have Claude research a topic and post an extremely LLM slop post about BuSiNeSs twice a week, and of course everyone comments with slop comments and I reply in kind.

I immortalised the posts here:

I used to do the same but being unable to copy/paste easily, follow links, upload files, etc led me to write a small bridge so I can turn Github issues into my harness frontend:

Now I chat with OpenCode/Pi over Github issues, which is a miles better experience.

> They are calling out specific providers who release powerful models without safeguards.

Good thing Fable refuses to answer my question about how children inherit blue eyes, it was the only piece of information I needed to finish my blue-eye super-bioweapon.

> said providers are not "building models for free for the public."

I am part of the public, and they built a model I can run for free.

> They are doing it to hamstring America's dominance in AI, primarily by undercutting the frontier labs.

They are also doing that, which, good. It can't only be that "competition is good" until you're the one losing to the competition.

Yes, and perfect law enforcement is much worse than society than spotty law enforcement, because spotty law enforcement is how all societal progress got made.

Yes! Being young is great, and it always seems like those days were the best.
stavros··on I think you should almost never use AI to write
I disagree, but think that there's a specific way to use AI to write. I use AI to get critiques on my writing, but never want it to actually produce text for me. I experimented with this by making https://www.writelucid.cc, and I really like it, I use it for all my writing nowadays.

Getting comments on specific sentences/passages and being able to debate them has been great for my thinking, and I've learned a lot about what works and what doesn't work while writing with it.

I switched to iPhone for 2-3 months but the keyboard was so back I switched back to Android. If Apple can't get a keyboard (any keyboard!) to work in a decade, I'm going to an OS that works.

It's crazy that SwiftKey was terrible too, even though it's the one I use exclusively on Android.
