staticautomatic··on Yes I Will Read Ulysses Yes
The trick with Ulysses is to just let it wash over you. If you try to fully understand each sentence it’s too hard to read.

staticautomatic··on Bosses weren't being paranoid: Remote workers more likely to start their own biz
Wait what? Why are you putting yourself and your team in a position where your reports can screw you over? And if one or two people are doing whatever that is, why aren’t you firing them or managing them out?

Contextual advertising is a known ad business model that commands higher rates and is an ideal fit for LLMs. Plus ChatGPT has a lot of volume. If there’s anyone who should be worried about pulling that off it’s Perplexity and every other small to mid-sized player.
staticautomatic··on Who isn't a big fan of "impartial" news? People who don't have power
While this is generally true, people do actually tend to consume media that comports with their existing or desired self-image. Source: I run insights & analytics for a media company.
staticautomatic··on Who isn't a big fan of "impartial" news? People who don't have power
What's at issue is not really whether they have power. It's whether they feel like they have power.

No. These people aren't "voting against their own interests." They're prioritizing their non-economic interests over their economic ones.
staticautomatic··on Google’s two-year frenzy to catch up with OpenAI
2.0 Flash seems to work well/fine for some use cases but for other produces hilariously bad results compared to ChatGPT and Claude. As a result I tend to avoid prototyping with it and instead consider it something I might implement at scale for speed and cost reasons if it turns out to work for a given use case.
