This is a great idea. I agree, the watermark thing is quite annoying.

My bad, this is still MVP, will replace it.

Yeah, I agree, I tried Toggl which is quite popular and was surprised how bloated it had become. The last time I used it was back in 2017 and it was a small yet handy tool for teams.

Yeah, that is something I am thinking of. Would love to connect with you to get more details. I am on Twitter https://twitter.com/byteblanq if that helps.

start123··on Ask HN: How can I make animated flowcharts to showcase architecture
I tried every other tool out there(Miro, Lucid etc) but none of them do this. Then I tried with plain CSS but found it to be very tricky.

This is fantastic! I usually use Google Maps to find interesting airports. This helps me discover more.

I just use Firefox's reader view. Does the same with just a click. If it doesn't work, just refresh in reader view and it should load properly.

And, it was banned. All I wanted is write a fictional story and vent my anger at Digitalocean.
start123··on I broke up with Digitalocean, here’s the story
Sorry if that sounded creepy. My intention was only to make my point. I tried to end it fairly and I guess it failed :(

Yes, I second this. It was a nightmare for me. They brought down the droplet and the recourse was that I had to create a support ticket. It was weekend and they took more than 24 hours to answer.

Until then, my site was down with customers complaining to me.

start123··on I broke up with Digitalocean, here’s the story
I am the author here. Let me give you more context on this.

1. My Saas platform supports custom domains including naked domains and not just subdomains so it is important for me that the IP address remains the same when I add more capacity. I am running a single large droplet as of now and when I tried to add more instance + LB, DO wouldn't let me do that. Several people have asked this feature if you look in their forums. Unless I run and manage my own Haproxy/Nginx boxes, I cannot scale up.

2. This is currently a side project and I do not have additional time to maintain more resources which is why I am willing to spend more on a platform that provides me these features. This is not due to laziness as some people have commented.

I understand your concerns I personally hate short generic links. They are a big security risk especially phishing ones.

The way I counter this is by not allowing people people to create generic links in the first place unless you are a paid customer. Plus, you need to add your custom domain to do something meaningful on the platform.

That pretty much weeds out 100% of scammers.

The biggest problem with my approach was not understanding my product well. What was it trying to solve? I had no answer. Besides that, identifying distribution channels and lack of marketing were primary reasons of failure. I wish I could have spent more time learning Sales and marketing giving me a better shot at success.

Currently I have a mix of clients - some startups, job boards, digital consultants, content agencies that want to manage and track clicks. Basically understand their campaign so that they can improve and perform better.

The good thing is that you can basically track anything. One of my clients uses short links on buttons and images to track conversions.

And yes, publishing industry can definitely benefit from this.
