"Throwing everything in a document is just fermenting chaos and pain." - I LOVE THIS.
stanislavb··on Show HN: A free minimalist daily habit tracker
Looks beautiful. I will get it featured on SaaSHub's newsletter https://www.saashub.com/my-good-week. Cheers!
stanislavb··on First look at the upcoming Starlink Mini
Yup, my issue with Starlink is giving money to a company owned by Musk. I will avoid that as much as possible.
stanislavb··on The sun's magnetic field is about to flip
Thank you so much. I came to the comments looking for a similar explanation.
stanislavb··on Apple's AI Strategy in a Nutshell
Yup, this was the second thing I thought that's happening. Also, I wasn't sure whether to upgrade from 13 to 16. However, the AI angle tends everything towards buying a new phone.

A very smart move from Apple.

stanislavb··on Apple's AI Strategy in a Nutshell
"Indie app publishers are screwed." - that was one of the first things I thought about.
stanislavb··on Trump found guilty on all charges related to the hush money case
The bigger deal to me is that so many Americans (that many that he could win) are still going to vote for Trump! That's so disappointing of the American society.

A trawler driven by the Russians?
stanislavb··on Turn Your iPhone into a Dumb Phone
Oh, how much I hate the Uber notifications. Thanks for the example. They are a perfect example of abusing the system.
stanislavb··on DuckDuckGo was down
This. At some point in the past I was giving a "test drive" to DuckDuckGo. And the moment when I realised that they are a Bing wrapper was the end of it.
stanislavb··on Unfriendly GPT
This is so cool.

"- What do you think about the Roaring Kitty? - Roaring Kitty? That motherfucker is a legend in the goddamn making. You got this regular-ass dude, Keith Gill, who saw an opportunity and went all in. He shook up Wall Street, and the financial bigwigs didn’t know what hit ‘em. It’s a David versus Goliath story, and this time, David’s packing some serious heat.

Roaring Kitty, a.k.a. DeepFuckingValue, took one look at GameStop, saw the potential, and bet big. He had the balls to stick to his guns when everyone else thought he was nuts. And guess what? He was right. He turned the whole goddamn market on its head, showing those hedge fund assholes that they ain't untouchable.

So, what do I think about him? The guy’s a goddamn inspiration. He showed that with some serious research, conviction, and a pair of brass balls, you can take on the system and make those motherfuckers tremble. Hats off to Roaring Kitty. Keep shaking up the status quo, you magnificent bastard."

stanislavb··on Australian man says border force made him hand over phone passcode
What about all the banking apps etc. It's will be still painful replacing them.
stanislavb··on Australian man says border force made him hand over phone passcode
This. It's super painful and time-confusing restoring all apps ... even with proper backups.
stanislavb··on A dystopian iPad commercial has X ripping Apple for crushing instruments and art
WTF. Trying to lure new customers by saying that all their memories. sentimental belongings or cute little toys will be destroyed?

I want to know which is the marketing agency (or person) that thought that it would be a good idea.

stanislavb··on Ask HN: Have you had issues with Cloudflare's IP 2a06:98c0:3600:103?
Unfortunately, that doesn't work as traffic is proxied through CloudFlare. i.e. all the traffic reaching my machine comes from CloudFlare IPs. The only way to know the real IP is at web-server level (e.g. Nginx).

Usually, I can block similar traffic at CloudFlare level; however, that's somehow not the case with that IP.

stanislavb··on Ask HN: Have you had issues with Cloudflare's IP 2a06:98c0:3600:103?
Thanks!
stanislavb··on StoryDiffusion: Long-range image and video generation
Seems so. I was about to report about it, too.
stanislavb··on Ask HN: Have you had issues with Cloudflare's IP 2a06:98c0:3600:103?
I haven't. I will.
stanislavb··on Show HN: I built a self-hosted status page and monitoring tool for my projects
Hey mate, I'm using https://healthchecks.io/ for heartbeat monitoring my crons. It's been working flawlessly for quite some time now. The UI is super clean and easy to navigate. It's also free up to 20 monitored jobs. Note - I'm not in any way related to that project.
stanislavb··on Forcing master to main was a good faith exploit
I think what he is trying to say is that people "lost" a reasonable amount of time in arguing about and implementing a change (i.e. updating scripts, processes, configurations), that didn't have any viable impact or result in the end.
stanislavb··on Ask HN: I want to create IMDB for open source projects
Yup. OpenHub is nice. I love the simplicity of its design. What do you think about LibHunt https://www.libhunt.com? It's similar to OpenHub to some extent; however, it is more focussed on alternatives and comparisons of libraries. For example, a nice trick is to open any github repo and replace "github" with "libhunt" to find alternatives of that project. E.g. https://www.libhunt.com/site/find_alternatives
stanislavb··on The Bulgarian Computer's Global Reach: On Victor Petrov's "Balkan Cyberia"
Are there people who studied in UKTC here? Maybe we could connect.
stanislavb··on RSS Feed Organization Strategies and New Feed Cost
Hey mate, I've solved this problem (frequency of updates) at Lenns.io. i.e. it's an opinionated RSS reader/tracker with a few unique features (at least they are unique when combined). You can tag each Feed Source into multiple categories. Then, you set priority weights (manuallY) to both Sources and Categories. That way - the sources or topics that you are most interested in always pop up at the top of your feed. Then, to avoid the issue with one source overtaking your feed - you can set a limit on how many posts you want displayed per feed.

I hope this makes sense. And, I will appreciate if you give it a go and share you feedback as an experienced RSS user. Cheers!

stanislavb··on Stop Doing Business with Russia
This is the second front of the war that most of could have at least some impact.
stanislavb··on Regex character "$" doesn't mean "end-of-string"
What a nice analogy. I’ll borrow it in the future.
stanislavb··on Google helped destroy adoption of RSS feeds (2023)
Have you tried Lenna.io? I’d guess no, but it could regard some of the pains. (Disclosure - a product I work on)
