stanboyet··on Ask HN: What are tools you have made for yourself since the advent of AI?
I spent days iterating with Claude Code cli tool.

Spent a lot of time initially with asking it to generate me radically different approaches. Then I cherry pick what I like, iterate over and over again.

It's still something I ask of it regularly.

Thank you for the kind words. I've always struggled with UI as I have a backend engineer background, now more on the CTO sides of things. I've always lacked the creativity IMO, and this gave me a very good opportunity to practice and try to build something ""unique"".

Aahah very clear oversight on my end :D

I always was frustrated by link shorteners and predatory approaches. So I built https://slsh.me

Fun to build again, host on bare metal and all. Learned a lot!

stanboyet··on How We built a $1M ARR open source SaaS
I've always wondered how you manage this (2) tech-wise.

Here are my contradictory hypotheses: - I don't expect to find the code for such features in the open-source repo - I guess you dogfood your own product and therefore host exactly what you publish in your open-source repo

How do you "plug" these closed-source features to the product? I've always been curious of this as I strongly believe in this way of doing business for a SaaS.

PS: amazing company ~you've built~ you're building, GG ;)

Thank you for your message. I recognize myself in the "regarded this as one of their highest duties", but sometimes it's a lot, especially when you get your own thing going (covid and such).

So thank you. I feel appreciated for the effort I put in this, even though we don't know each other :)

stanboyet··on Digikam 7.0: Open-source photo management
Just read your first blog post, I signed up. But +1 for the screenshots on your website, it does not work as an illustration of the product.
stanboyet··on Ask HN: Startup failed after years of work – Can I even get a job now?
As a CTO, you're the kind of profile I'd be looking for and would consider (5 years old (start/scale) up with an engineering team of 5). As many explained, you have a grasp at the reality of building a business that most engineers will lack. It'll be easier for you to reach their "tech level" than the other way around.

If you're in the region of Brussels, or willing to relocate, don't hesitate to contact me ;) stan [at] drawbotics [dot] com

stanboyet··on Show HN: Pigeon Maps – ReactJS Maps without external dependencies
Looks good. The performance, as it can be expected for such a small footprint, is really worth considering it too.
stanboyet··on Ask HN: ShirtJS order problems: troubling silence
Same here ... Contacted them, just got the email saying they were delayed ...
