sriram_iyengar··on Build a Serverless Web Applicaion
Yes very much possible if you are requesting across zones. I did extensive testing within zone and couldn't notice anything more than 2-3ms.
sriram_iyengar··on Build a Serverless Web Applicaion
>> Also, worht noting is that my code is hosted in the us-east region and I'm based in Europe. I'm not sure how much latency this introduce. Very much possible, if your regions are different.
sriram_iyengar··on Build a Serverless Web Applicaion
- watchout for latencies (multi-zones apps) time of your lambda functions.

- keep your lambda functions warmed up

- node has better warmup time than java lambdas (not sure of python)

- memory size impact of lambda functions (negligible in most cases)

- manage lambda timeouts

- dynamodb latencies are negligible

- api gateway typically does not introduce latencies

- multitenancy challenges with single store of dynamodb

sriram_iyengar··on Stack Overflow Developer Survey Results 2017
Loved the gif question :)
sriram_iyengar··on The Cracking Monolith: Forces That Call for Microservices
Agree that the functionality needs to be tested in-whole. But the delta in time is very large when the feature level tests have to be run on the monolith & they can be avoided when they are tested on the micro service.
sriram_iyengar··on The Cracking Monolith: Forces That Call for Microservices
Another aspect to consider is, time taken to run regression and automation tests on the Monolith, by both devs & QAs. This affects frequent release of software considerably l.
