srameshc··on Some kids are bypassing age verification checks with a fake mustache
It did not take them too long to figure out this simple hack :) I know a few companies that work on age verification for online stores etc. But they ask for age proof via id etc. This seem to be via image and a bad idea. Unless there is a better idea , privacy focused age verification system, they should stop doing it .
srameshc··on DeepSeek v4
As much I apprecite the sentiment, I think it is too early to declare that the well guareded monopoly is over. Yes, these models have answers, but don't expect all the large enterprises to switch to these models. The other aspect is scaling to serve these models will need a lot of time even if Huawei succeeds. Not all the Governments trust China and there will be a lot of resistance to work with these models eventually, even if cheaper.
srameshc··on Investigation uncovers two sophisticated telecom surveillance campaigns
I was reading news this morning about Lebanese journalist killed in airstrike. I was thinking very likely she was tracked wherever she was taking shelter. These kind of surveillance probably helps track such people on large scale and we most of the time meh at such reports and think what have I to loose. But it is affecting everyone now, not some ambigious high profile targets, they are the people amongst us.
srameshc··on At Long Last, InfoWars Is Ours
InfoWars was about the niche audience buying the narrative that was pushed to them and it took the previous owner probably time to realize that lies can be sold as truth.

What would the new Infowars be ? It should never stop telling on the front page what it was and what it is going to be now.

Whatever it will be I am hoping they have thought well about it since they have been thinking long and also want to bring a positive message.

Good luck

srameshc··on How Flock is helping make America safer, one city at a time
I am posting it because I want to understand how A16Z pushes the views and how it goes agains actual risks Flock brings in and how is it not making it safer for the people.
srameshc··on Polymarket gamblers betting millions on war
> There is now more than $500,000 (£371,000) staked on whether Russia will capture Kostyantynivka this year .

Now everyone has a chance to profit from war ! Thank you Polymarket

srameshc··on We've raised $17M to build what comes after Git
I do not understand the problem solution, but if anything with git, I would want Codeberg style. I moved to gitlab and they were soldout and I am back on github slowly transitioning out. Common sentiment I believe is we want git, but on our own terms, not another VC funded project to move in.
srameshc··on Ask HN: How to be alone?
brilliant suggestions !! To care for what you have is the best approach in my opinion.
srameshc··on Tell HN: I'm 60 years old. Claude Code has re-ignited a passion
COM !! I remember that was the biggest idea that I learned and thought if I can get it right, I will be the best programmer ever. And to learn, I bought my most expensive book by Dale Rogerson if I remember the author's name correctly. But it was a different time and soon everyone was talking about Java. Just nostalgia and I remember my past.
srameshc··on How we rebuilt Next.js with AI in one week
I love Cloudflare but not a big fan of Next, I love Remix though :) But getting to make things work on Cloudflare is a pain, hopefully they will make it easier with OpenNext. On the other hand , maybe they can do something better at infrastrucute level , rather than make it easier, like a lot easier to bring your own JS flavor.
srameshc··on What's the best way to learn a new language?
I love brazilian Portugese becuase I love Brazil and it's people and culture. So I listen to a lot of brazilian music and I am always curious about lyrics. I try to sing along, but it's hard sometimes to read it in english and pronouncate, sometimes 't' is 'chi' ... I might be wrong , I am new to the language and I am learning. I have picked up a lot of words in my subconscious and I know what they mean and this is probably a good way learn in my opinion.
srameshc··on I verified my LinkedIn identity. Here's what I handed over
This is the kind of activism in privacy appreciate that we need. I knew I did not want to verify but I did verify on Linkedin recently. The fact that the author also gave an action list if you are concerned about your privacy is just commendable.
srameshc··on H-1B Exposed: Banking sector visa sponsorship investigation
Exposed what ? It has brought some great talent to the country and helped with talent immigration for sure, everyone knows it. There is a phase when there is a sacrifice for the candidate but then people change jobs even when green card processing is throught the stages.
srameshc··on AI fatigue is real and nobody talks about it
Great post, I certainly feel you. Not just the anxiety but the need to push myself more and accomplish more now that I have some help. Setting right expectations and what is more practical and not every "AI magic post" is worth the attention, has helped me by not being anxious and with the FOMO.
srameshc··on Study: emotional support from social media found to reduce anxiety
It does I am sure in small instances, but isn't it established that it causes more anxiety in general ? I read a linkedin post about this guy on Linkedin asking a lady to "fix her hair" as a comment to something he probably found offending and to that another guy was asking the lady to shut up and that she was wrong to call out this man in the first place. I wanted to add my comment to this other guy and I could instantly feel all adverse emotions and eventually had to calm myself down and stay out. So when someone supported her , she definetly found her support and courage but many still find the anxiety in all kinds of social network, even with a verified person.
srameshc··on Project Genie: Experimenting with infinite, interactive worlds
What’s the endgame here? For a small gaming studio, what are the actual implications?
srameshc··on Comma openpilot – Open source driver-assistance
Can someone with technical knowledge explain the key differences between the assisted driving technologies used by Waymo, Tesla, and comma.ai?
srameshc··on Chinese AI models are popular. But can they make money?
If Chinese cars can make it to Canada regardless of all the percieved risks, why is it not impossible to assume Chinese AI models won't.
srameshc··on Nepal's Mountainside Teahouses Elevate the Experience for Trekkers
Tea truly elevates the experience! I lived in western India years ago, and remember a trip to the mountains with a friend on a moped. It was raining and the tropical drizzle added to the fun. Reaching the top, we found a small tea vendor and a woman selling "pakoras" (deep-fried snacks). I can't quite describe the elevated experience at that point.
srameshc··on Show HN: Tabstack – Browser infrastructure for AI agents (by Mozilla)
This looks good , but if Pay-as-you-go pricing can have some more information about what your actual are charges are per unit or whatever metrics, that would be helpful. I signed up but still can not find the actual pricing.
srameshc··on London–Calcutta bus service
there is a DW channel documentary about Transoceânica (Rio to Lima ) the longest bus route, which I just watched last week. It is 5 episodes but well made. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_ODFlqURxY
srameshc··on Exercise can be nearly as effective as therapy for depression
I will speak from my experience. I have diabetes and I try to manage it well, with workout. But sometimes when the sugars are high for a while, I can feel it, the sadness, the hopelessness. It took me a while to understand that is high sugar levels and a mild form of depression. Now I will do some workout when I feel that and after a little workout, I can see how my mind also start to feel better. This is not a solution for everyone who is experiencing depression probably but might help some who are experiencing because of high sugar levels.
srameshc··on Creators of Tailwind laid off 75% of their engineering team
> But the reality is that 75% of the people on our engineering team lost their jobs here yesterday because of the brutal impact AI has had on our business.

Adam is simply trying to navigate this new reality, and he's being honest, so there's no need to criticize him.

srameshc··on The unbearable joy of sitting alone in a café
I come from India. Many years ago I remember I was having a tough day and very less money on me and sitting by a busy road side tea stall along and sipping my Rupee 2 tea , looking at passers by and traffic. I don't remember anything more but that thought often comes to me randomly and makes me happy even after about 20 years. Life brings joy at unexpected corners.
srameshc··on BYD Sells 4.6M Vehicles in 2025, Meets Revised Sales Goal
This is certainly alarming for US auto manufacturers. Tesla is the only successful EV car company which is able to somewhat compete with BYD, but for many it is hardly an option because of it's leadership.
srameshc··on Show HN: I open-sourced my Go and Next B2B SaaS Starter (deploy anywhere, MIT)
Thanks for sharing. I am particularly interested in knowing your experience with ConnectRPC. I wasn't aware about this library. I use Go and JS implementation in one of our webapps and it was painful specially on the web but once working it was beautiful. Just curious if you feel it is a much better developer experience with ConnectRPC ?
srameshc··on Launch HN: Kenobi (YC W22) – Personalize your website for every visitor
I am trying to make a constructive feedback and not just critical if I sound that way by anychance. I spent a bit of time but it's hard to get the product. Instead of the team photo on home page, you could show some images of what you mean by the product personalization. Honestly people don't have much time to read through and understand a product , which has a simple value proposition.
srameshc··on Show HN: I built a WebMIDI sequencer to control my hardware synths
Thanks this looks intersting and I am going it to try it later. I have old Axiom 49 and it really doesn't work that much with modern DAW as it is assumed it's old and outdated. But I like the form factor and it is solid. I hope I can make it work witht his one ?
srameshc··on Gemini 3 Flash: Frontier intelligence built for speed
Thanks that was a great breakup of cost. I just assumed before that it was the same pricing. The pricing probably comes from the confidence and the buzz around Gemini 3.0 as one of the best performing models. But competetion is hot in the area and it's not too far where we get similar performing models for cheaper price.
srameshc··on SQLite JSON at full index speed using generated columns
I love SQLite and this is in no way I'm making a point devaluing SQLite, Author's method is excellent approach to get analytical speed out of SQLite. But I am loving DuckDB for similar analytical workloads as it is built for such tasks. DuckDB also reads from single file, like SQLite and DuckDB process large data sets at extreme speeds. I work on my macbook m2 and I have been dealing with about 20 million records and it works fast, very fast.

Loading data into DuckDB is super easy, I was surprised :

SELECT avg(sale_price), count(DISTINCT customer_id) FROM '/my-data-lake/sales/2024/*.json';

and you can also load into a JSON type column and can use postgres type syntax col->>'$.key'
