sr_banksy··on Trump to terminate birthright citizenship
Is this an attempt to distract from something else? There's plenty right now... Maybe how the tariffs are backfiring? http://www.aei.org/publication/trumps-tariffs-are-backfiring...
sr_banksy··on Ask HN: Why haven't people moved on from Bitcoin?
Fully agree that blockchain is revolutionary technology. But why has Bitcoin captured mainstream attention and not others (say Ethereum, Litecoin etc)?

Understood about energy. I will read deeper.

Originally built this as a side project. But the whole process has been fascinating. If you have any questions, feel free to ask away.
sr_banksy··on Across Continents: A Stolen Laptop, an Ominous Email, and a Big Risk
The story, I think, exemplifies human desire to learn and change for the better. No matter what the circumstance, ask for help and you may be surprised!
sr_banksy··on My Year in San Francisco’s $2M Secret Society Startup
"Much like San Francisco itself, the Society hadn’t felt like it was intended for people with money—until, suddenly, it did."
sr_banksy··on Tell HN: HN and Slack Office Hours with YC Partners this Friday
yep. tried to do the same!
sr_banksy··on How to Beat Jetlag and Travel Healthier
I'm one of those weird ones who enjoys being on a plane. Like the Seinfeld bit goes, it is a tiny snapshot of life... tiny tables, tiny cramped seat, tiny bottles, tiny food. Anyway, I feel like this article just throws everything at you.

The following works very well for me:

1 - Adjust your sleep to reflect your destination. Advance or delay your body clock according gradually prior to your trip.

2 - Water. Drink lots of it inflight.

3 - High-Protein, low carb meals just before travel and inflight.

4 - Walk around on a plane or use compression.

sr_banksy··on Ask HN: Is Python dying?
It has massive support and libraries for almost anything imaginable. It's not dying. Yes, the transition from 2 to 3 is a bit of a hiccup, but it's going to be around for a long time!

A tad bit old, but read this: http://www.curiousefficiency.org/posts/2012/10/pythons-futur...

TL;DR: No.

sr_banksy··on Reported Bitcoin 'founder' Craig Wright's home raided by Australian police
So... this was a tax raid? Quite a harsh response, considering the rules were drafted 12months ago... What are the money laundering measures that caused Aussie banks to disown Bitcoin? Maybe that could shed light on the motivations behind the raid?
sr_banksy··on Wait Didn't Homejoy Shut Down?

sr_banksy··on YC W2016 Interview Invites
I think they send them at the end of business Pacific Time.
sr_banksy··on Turning the iPhone 6S into a Digital Scale
This is awesome! I've too have had apps rejected for arbitrary reasons. Hopefully Apple comes around on this one. Open sourcing it might help flood Apple with different apps/ use cases for the weighing idea.
sr_banksy··on Study: CEO effect on firm performance could be mostly due to chance
Neat strategy. It would be interesting to actually browse through the study's data set and isolate Founder-CEO companies. If there's any conceivable link, then maybe that explains the 30%? However, I don't think there would be many founder CEOs within the dataset.
sr_banksy··on Is Life Special Just Because It’s Rare?
Are we looking for non-carbon based life? Is it possible that we fail to recognize life simply because it is so far apart from our idea of life?
sr_banksy··on Guide to Your Equity

sr_banksy··on Staffpad: a new class of notation app
Great use of background video indeed! It sold me the product without the need for any extra explanation!
sr_banksy··on India Replaces China as Next Big Frontier for U.S. Tech Companies
This is great.

Also, worth noting that tech is seemingly the one area of regulation / legislation that sees swift and decisive action in favor of the average Indian. But that's due to the sheer noise generated by the empowered digital Indian on such issues.

- Huge pushback on OTT regulation by TRAI (India's FCC) http://indianexpress.com/article/technology/social/trai-seek...

- Repeal of Section 66A http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-32029369 etc.

sr_banksy··on Ask HN: What are your motivations to open source a major project?
True, I misspoke. I meant commercialize it as closed source / proprietary software. But cheers on your work!

Beyond your team, does the community contribute to your product in meaningful ways?

sr_banksy··on Roamad – The Voice Service Everyone Deserves
Yea, different VM messages and screening settings for different numbers or callers. I've been using it to filter calls on an overseas number that reaches me only at certain times of the day.
sr_banksy··on Roamad – The Voice Service Everyone Deserves
True. But AFAIK GV is limited to US numbers. Roamad allows you to provision numbers globally. As someone who travels a lot that's important to me. Gmail like filtering is something I care about for my phone calls.
sr_banksy··on My Life Unmasking British Eavesdroppers
Great insight into how free-speech, freedom of press and privacy laws work and have evolved on both sides of the Atlantic. Having lived on either end of the pond as an average citizen, I know the American Press enjoys greater and truer freedom. They hold the legislators accountable. The British press, on the other hand, felt malleable, made to bend any which way the government choose. The BBC creates invaluable programming, but also is bound to the government by the purse. It always felt like the government meddled with its affairs. And now some great to get some historical context into it as well!
