spzb··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (March 2025)
Writing prose instead of code. Started a Ghost powered newsletter mainly focusing on AI and retro computing. Aiming to be a lightweight general read, not heavy technical stuff. Had a bit of success with a couple of articles posted to HN before.

spzb··on I put my heart and soul into this AI but nobody cares
Author here. I definitely wrote it myself. As another commentator says, this is an accessibility thing. Individual images have alt tags but the Ghost gallery component didn't have an easy way to add those.

spzb··on I'll think twice before using GitHub Actions again
My recent experience with Github Actions is that it will randomly fail running a pipeline that hasn't changed with an incomprehensible error message. I re-run the action a few hours later and it works perfectly.
spzb··on Ask HN: How to learn marketing and sales as a solo entrepreneur?
Rob Walling's books are pretty good and his first one "Start Marketing The Day You Start Coding" is a free download from his website https://robwalling.com/#books

I don't want AI features in my browser. I want to browse the web with it.

I use one of these https://www.dualit.com/products/ecopress-aluminium-capsule-r...

It separates the aluminium pod and the coffee grounds so you can recycle the former and compost the latter.

spzb··on X says it is closing operations in Brazil due to judge's content orders
Having hate speech laws doesn't equate to the state giving takedown notices. More likely the individual will be prosecuted as has happened in the past few weeks of social unrest.

spzb··on I built a second brain tool for college students
A lot of academics are precariously employed (short, term-time only contracts). They are often against the recording of lectures because they're concerned that the universities won't bother paying them to deliver the lectures again next year when they could just give students the recordings.
spzb··on The 1-HR nurse visits that cost $15B to Medicare
Maybe you should ask the people who currently aren't covered if it's a good idea

spzb··on Ollama v0.1.45
Hard to see how it's a "ripoff" given that llama.cpp is MIT licensed. It's pretty much encouraged to re-use MIT-licensed code.

Untested in court but, at least in the EU, could be protected as a "database" https://copyrightblog.kluweriplaw.com/2024/01/18/are-ai-mode...

Also "Stable Diffusion" is a registered trademark so there's a possible infringement there too.

spzb··on If architects had to work like programmers (1995)
The entire house must be built on a cloud because clouds are cool. Clouds provide no structural stability and are completely inappropriate for this project so you'll need to build loads of scaffolding to hold everything together which should be concealed by the presence of the cloud.
