How do you account for artistic disciplines where virtually nobody makes any money? Most poets will never earn a living wage from their work, however beautiful and well made it is, because the market just isn’t there. Does that make them failures?
I don't know the bar in question, but from my experience those two things aren't necessarily mutually exclusive...
Seems to suggest that handsets explicitly made for anonymous encryption could be banned, but not messaging apps on normal phones.
Do you remember if there was a reason the Edith[0] tool didn’t ship with the original game? It seems like that would have encouraged some interesting mods and variations, by letting players change the interactions between objects in the game
I know one of the key programmers behind The Sims 1, Don Hopkins, is a regular on HN. I hope he knows how much joy his work brought kids like me.

I’m not sure about saying ‘that’s really funny’ when someone tells a crap joke though. At least where I live in the UK, that comment would come off as insincere and be quite distancing - better to just smile or tease them gently
Is there an Obsidian plugin for using this kind of structure? I know there’s the graph view for seeing how notes are linked together
This question is the foundation of the marketing industry. There are so many ways to manipulate people into parting with their money, but one of the basic approaches is to introduce and build tension in the customer that your product claims to release. This tension always exists on a deeper level than the practical value of the product.
For example, if Apple want to sell a laptop, they don’t focus on selling the tech specs. Instead they promise the customer that if they buy a macbook, they’ll become a creative genius, a musician or a VFX artist - high status careers. So what they’re really selling is the promise of enhanced social standing, not technology. That’s as manipulative as it gets
