I'm an old school C/C++ embedded developer but have recently reinvented myself as a web/mobile freak with my preferred technology stack being Rails, Android and iPhone. I have a soft spot for Pythong/Django too.

Check out Bonobos...http://www.bonobos.com/welcome/n

We saw a presentation by their founder long before launching 7RL. Good people and great products.

We have a mobile app ready for release that you can take to the tailor of your choice and poke in the measurements. Stay tuned on that front. We're also looking into some more advanced measurement technologies.

I feel your pain brother.

Shoes coming soon. We're leaving Monday for a shoe scout mission...:).
spicerunner··on The Well Dressed Coder
Absolutely correct, you can be well dressed without a suit.

A nearly identical business model, but we have some unique technology and more direct customer contact. For example, when you place an order we have a system which modulates your measurements with data from other customers to identify potential measurement errors. When those are flagged we will contact you directly to sort it out and ensure the suit has the best chance of a great fit. Measuring yourself is error prone, so we have a lot of mechanisms to identify and rectify those issues.

Yep, Hackernews effect. It's back up now but smoke's coming out of the servers.

We're launching shirts too. French cuffs and all. We can already take orders but they're not on the site yet.
spicerunner··on How Dead is WebOS?
All of the antitrust stuff of the last decade has really tamed Microsoft. I'm not sure they'd do that. I really wanted to like Windows Phone 7, but have lost faith and think WebOS may have an opportunity to overtake them if HP plays their cards right.

Microsoft's biggest hope for penetration is the Nokia partnership. Two frightened dinosaurs huddling in a cave as the comet approaches...

spicerunner··on How Dead is WebOS?
Yes, it definitely is coming to Windows Phone 7.

The fat lady hasn't sung yet.
spicerunner··on Roll a D6: Why is it so hard to tell people you play D&D?
I don't recall any of the girls I played D&D with looking like her...

Wish I were using this rather than ELance for my current outsourced design project. Price point might be just a tad high, but looks great.
spicerunner··on Still Hiring Mobile App Developers
That skill set is in high demand. Rather than be blocked I suggest you outsource. Find a freelancer...give him or her a test drive. Maybe they'll be your next employee.
spicerunner··on Chinese and Indian Entrepreneurs Are Eating America's Lunch
They're cheap, I admit that. But they are challenged interfacing with US clients. We've found that by giving business away (matching their rates) and delivering a few small jobs, US customers will keep coming back.

That said, there are a few good ones out there so we should keep on our toes.

Downloading is easy. We need metrics for active use.

This is cool. Can't say I'm sorry to see the sidburns gone though...:)

True...I must be getting old.
spicerunner··on Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen tries again with patent megasuit
The patent system needs an enema. Most of these are so broad it's like patenting water. Apple recently patented the 'slide to unlock' UI concept. If I'm not mistaken, the aliens in the Preditor movies had already established that as prior art and should probably go pay Apple's attorney's a visit.
