sowut··on Is Chrome the New IE? (2023)
i'll have to give firefox another look, it has been years.
sowut··on Is Chrome the New IE? (2023)
every time i get a new work machine i attempt to use a browser that is not chrome. last time was firefox, this time was safari. eventually i start using chrome on certain sites because of ublock origin. then, as was the case with aws, certain websites are flakey enough times that i just give in and use chrome full time.

side note: hey aws, why is your rds performance insights dashboard broken on safari? 33% of the time it will "freeze" and i have to reload the page. very un-dude like.

sowut··on New York Times Tech Guild goes on strike
"Times management has engaged in numerous labor law violations, including implementing return-to-office mandates without bargaining"

this is insane. you can't require your workers to come into an office anymore? that's against the law?

sowut··on Exposure to the Sun's UV radiation may be good for you
or, you know, sounds like this whole thread is full of people who are confused as to why you can't just take vitamin d supplements and hide from the sun
sowut··on Exposure to the Sun's UV radiation may be good for you
that's the second time i've said "mainstream leaders" with "mainstream policies." what i'm saying has nothing to do with celebrities
sowut··on Exposure to the Sun's UV radiation may be good for you
"we have no mainstream leaders with mainstream policies advocating for health and fitness to fix the root issue"
sowut··on Exposure to the Sun's UV radiation may be good for you
there's a popular trend that has been gaining momentum over decades that has people so disconnected from reality that they think a pill can replace proper diet, exercise, and in this case, the sun.

there is an obesity epidemic in this country at the root of many ailments (inflammation is the root of many diseases) and you have politicians pitching policies about bringing the cost of "drugs" down to treat these ailments but we have no mainstream leaders with mainstream policies advocating for health and fitness to fix the root issue.

we're going in the wrong direction and something has to change.

sowut··on Psilocybin desynchronizes the human brain
except that was a secret government program and humans were used as guinea pigs. that's not what i'm talking about at all
sowut··on Psilocybin desynchronizes the human brain
it's not that complex
sowut··on Psilocybin desynchronizes the human brain
it means regimented deep psychedelic experiences with focus on particular skills whether it be programming, music, art, writing, or any particular focus area. the results to be discussed, studied, understood, appreciated. almost like a college of psychedelics.
sowut··on Psilocybin desynchronizes the human brain
incredibly powerful drug. we should be training a legion of mystics using psilocybin instead of criminalizing it and obfuscating the implications of its use
sowut··on Supreme Court rules ex-presidents have immunity for official acts
this is an extreme example that really needs no explanation
sowut··on Supreme Court rules ex-presidents have immunity for official acts
while i appreciate he was a US citizen, i fail to see how it applies to our conversation
sowut··on Supreme Court rules ex-presidents have immunity for official acts
I can't reply to your last comment since it's nested so deep: "Help me understand how you read "courts may not inquire into the President’s motives", then. That's a ruling, by the Supreme Court, that they can not do so in this specific case."

There's scopes to the application of the ruling. An extrajudicial killing of a political opponent certainly falls outside of scope.

sowut··on Supreme Court rules ex-presidents have immunity for official acts
Anyone can claim anything they want. That's why we have courts.
sowut··on Supreme Court rules ex-presidents have immunity for official acts
There literally is. You can't just frame things however you want. That's not how this works. Words mean things.
sowut··on Supreme Court rules ex-presidents have immunity for official acts
it doesn't matter. the trump heuristic is the only way some people perceive the world. then they'll suggest some insane nonsense which is actually bad but they'll justify it with the trump heuristic

sowut··on Psychedelics are challenging the standard of randomized controlled trials
when i was 17 i found out about mushrooms and would take 1/8th ounce once a month for about 6 months which culminated in me absolutely convinced i was jesus for about 6 years. good stuff
