sourabhv··on Claude Code removed from Anthropic's Pro plan
It's still included here

sourabhv··on ML Code Exercises
While this might be helpful to gain a deeper understanding, but adding a time constraint and making it something that can be asked in an interview sounds painful. Please make this a github repo instead like python_koans
sourabhv··on ML Code Exercises
lol
sourabhv··on Apple apologizes for iPad 'Crush' ad that 'missed the mark'
Yeah the add shows off iPad as something more than it probably is. I don't like the destruction part but meh... to me the ad speaks nothing special or wow except the exploding paint buckets, which was fun. But there is nothing to apologize for. Its an ad, they are not coming into your home and breaking your piano and guitars, chill. Don't like it? Don't buy it.
sourabhv··on Ask HN: What Are You Learning?
Learning AI, well started off with coursera deep learning specialization taught by Andrew Ng.
sourabhv··on Latency numbers every programmer should know
The original is honestly better: https://colin-scott.github.io/personal_website/research/inte...
sourabhv··on Ask HN: How to go from a good engineer to a great one?
Thank you for the answer and all the resources. I've tried starting rust a couple of times but somehow something else came up always, I'll give it another go.

I've been trying to focus my time on moving towards machine learning and its a paradigm shift for me because I've never been a fan of mathematics. I've started with Deep Learning Specialization on coursera but I don't know if that's a good resource. So if you have a better resource or a learning path you can suggest for this, that'd be great.

sourabhv··on Apple unveils M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max
Seems like apple's software is lagging far behind their hardware. To this day I can't reliably use Facetime for a call. Often times its ringing on my mac but the other use gets nothing. Maybe take some time to fix your software as well, apple?
sourabhv··on A new modern look for the Android brand
Last 3 android releases have seriously been in terms of new features, especially when you compare it with iOS. It used to be a completely opposite case 7-8 years ago. Is android team working on something big, running out of ideas or just under-staffed? I don't know who cares about a new android logo. I switched to iOS this year because I gave up on android adding anything new that's worth looking forward to.
sourabhv··on macOS Containers v0.0.1
This uses macfuse, a closed source software
sourabhv··on Run Llama 2 on your own Mac using LLM and Homebrew
The 13B link seems to be incorrect. Correct one would be

sourabhv··on When an app asks for permissions, it should have a “feed fake data” option
I thought of this years ago and even tried implementing this but my knowledge that time was very limited. So eventually I gave up.

I think before android implemented their permission system, os like Xiaomi’d implemented their permissions by feeding fake data to the app in case user reject a permission.

sourabhv··on Google CEO Salary
I doubt any CEO can pass software engineering interview questions. That's a pointless interview. No CEO is writing their own app. What he lacks is vision to convert random sparkly ideas into actual practical products and to control his company to focus on one variant of one product.

Google often has 2 of same ideas competing internally, which might sound like it encourages a healthy competition but most of their competitions have failed. Gmail can use dozens of new features which would be useful but they launched Inbox instead, an app with a confusion interface and nothing more. Duo has great video compression but that's it. They never used that in Meet or Hangouts.

Seems like they have gold but would rather use bronze.

sourabhv··on Spotify CEO renews attack on Apple after Musk's salvo
You can use other payment methods in android apps without any issues.
sourabhv··on AutoRegex
Switch from "regex to english" and write "email".

Instead of saying it will match the string "email", it says the opposite, english -> regex conversion

> regex = /\A([^@\s]+)@((?:[-a-z0-9]+\.)+[a-z]{2,})\Z/i

> This regular expression is used to match an email address. It starts by matching any character that is not a space or the "@" symbol, followed by the "@" symbol, then any characters that are not a space or the "." symbol, followed by a "." character, and finally any characters that are not a space.

sourabhv··on Tauri 1.0 – Electron Alternative Powered by Rust
I would honestly prefer flutter instead of relying on system web view and all of its inconsistencies
sourabhv··on Stop Interviewing with Leet Code
If you think it’s about flexibility or brilliance or intuition or experience, you couldn’t be more wrong. Leetcode and others and purely about practice and that too recent practice, all questions follow similar patterns and if you have it fresh in memory you can write it in 5 mins. But writing it from brainstorming can take more time tha allotted.

So are top leet coders better programmers? Not really, a lot of them are colleges students who have time to practice and they are in similar competitive circle. I’ve interviewed many and couldn’t hire even one

sourabhv··on I only care about the helpful notifications, not the promotional ones
These companies boast so much about their prowess in AI, but can't differentiate between a transactional and promotional message?

sourabhv··on Fig (YC S20) – Adds IDE-style autocomplete to your existing terminal
Yep
sourabhv··on Fig (YC S20) – Adds IDE-style autocomplete to your existing terminal
Same, I also use LittleSnitch. Its amazing and totally worth the cost.
sourabhv··on Fig (YC S20) – Adds IDE-style autocomplete to your existing terminal
On startup they send request to versions.withfig.com, tel.withfig.com, VS marketplace, Sentry, AWS Cognito and a couple more. My firewall blocked all of these and I couldn't use the app. It needs api.withfig.com, app.withfig.com and AWS Congnito to work. After signup I blocked all these and I saw they ping their servers every few seconds. Removing it permanently.
sourabhv··on Ask HN: How’s iCloud Private Relay?
Here in India, it made everything slow, my ping changed from 2ms to 140ms and speed from 300 to 10
