If you're really serious about the game, you're in the Discord (which theirs was on fire the whole time and had to go read-only).
Even then, there aren't many shops anymore which afford the closet & bucket o' fish heads approach. Maybe government contractors or smaller crypto projects.
Everywhere else, you need to at least get along with other people. Most shops have realized the 'rockstars' only look good on paper. https://www.inc.com/scott-mautz/a-biologists-study-of-superc...
Matt Cutts did a pretty decent job given the circumstances. I'm looking forward to Mina Hsiang bringing in a new wave of changes.
However, there are other good projects in a similar space. Hypercore protocol being one of them.
While IPFS has pushed ahead in field, I suspect they'll end up being the Netscape of decentralized tech. It's still early days.
The article rehashes some FUDy and misleading comments which have been knocked down years ago.
Brave's not perfect, but for different reasons than this author raises.
WFH during a global pandemic is not the same as WFH generally.
I say this as someone who has been remote for years.
Run this same study starting in September (barring huge Delta variant outbreak in the US) and you'll see a totally different set of numbers.
So despite 'reopening' people stayed home. That is why it had no discernible impact.
generation 1 : write a brief 5 designers @ $5 select your favorite design (be sure to get some outside human perspectives)
generation 2 : modify brief based on what you learned in generation 1. what you liked and didn't like. include the winning design from generation 1 as an inspiration and say you'd like to improve it 5 designers @ $5
for $50 you get 10 designs and have iterated twice
you can repeat this process until you're satisfied.
I haven't seen him present any better sensemaking structure, so he's banking on his brand. It's a bad habit we need to remove from politics entirely.
I've been remote for 5 years, this last year alone was the hard one.
I'm holding out hope that things will turn around soon with fixes to the vaccine rollout, but literally everyone has been on survival mode for way too long.
In all seriousness though, it will be very interesting to see where things go with 'alt' services and whether or not this will just mean screencaps and reposts in the established publishers.
... and yet they keep growing.
The more interesting conversation to have is if the growth is linear or early exponential.
Twitter has had hacks before, so I don't buy the 'hacks are the last straw' line.
I've trained in both a Cessna and a Piper Supercub, both were great.
The Supercub felt dodgy with just a single stick, but it was also felt agile and like I was actually participating in flying. The Cessna felt like driving a station wagon in the sky. Rock solid and reliable.
Both are great, honestly just surprised at how the author dodged talking about one of the Big 3.
I remember seeing it a couple years back.
