someSven··on Exposure to the bacteria in soil can be good for mental health
I thought about this a while ago. I even don't know about any incident in which a child was seriously hurt by playing outside in my former hometown or the villages around, while my whole time as a child or teenager. Though, maybe I forgot about something...
someSven··on Living in 80 square feet (2010)
There may be cities where this is the case, but this surely isn't standard. I'm European but I never saw something like that nor could I recall having read such an offer for an apartement.
someSven··on Rise of the machines: who is the ‘internet of things’ good for?
I'd like to have network which reacts by using sensors to play audio I was listening to in another room. It could also remind me of things when I enter a room and maybe other conditions are met.
someSven··on On average, skipping college and investing tuition costs nets a higher return
Minus the ones which went to US and other countries with lower taxes.
someSven··on On average, skipping college and investing tuition costs nets a higher return
That's some kind of ideology. The term modern is recognized as something positive, and then beeing used as an argument. I would argue developed countries are also modern.
someSven··on The Lisp Curse (2011)
If you recognize Lisp as a family of languages, then there is still newLisp which only adds some 100kb to a executable. And for a lot of stuff it's fast enough.
someSven··on Too many people are buying cars using financial products they do not understand
Bank are paying for deposits, and create money wjile the deposits are the security. Simplified.
someSven··on Too many people are buying cars using financial products they do not understand
My experince in Europe was different. I actually looked into Wikipedia for a Honda bank, and it exists. I also know Volkswagen bank.
someSven··on Too many people are buying cars using financial products they do not understand
Car companies often have a bancing licence on their own. So they pay some interest but can create more money with these deposits. So it's cheap money for them.

someSven··on Dissecting Ponzi schemes on Ethereum: identification, analysis, and impact
Ponzi systems end. A speculative asset might drop hard, but then it stabilises. There is simply no reason to stop using or holding BTC when the price increase stops.
someSven··on What has Internet done to Media?
Some points to consider: - Self publishing of ebooks seem to work better for a bunch of authors (source: Planet Money Podcast) - There are bands which make money by having concerts and releasing there music for free. - I prefer not having my gouvernment to decide what is propaganda and what not. -Big media companies where screwing their artists for decades. Now there are alternatives. - I'm still not using Facebook, and I'm fine. - Freedom enables so much, like Netflix or the Brave browser, I like it.
someSven··on Dissecting Ponzi schemes on Ethereum: identification, analysis, and impact
I think it does. A ponzi has one issuer, and it's worthless. Bitcoin is speculation and it's a brand, and a plattform whitch is usefull.
someSven··on Dissecting Ponzi schemes on Ethereum: identification, analysis, and impact
In Germany it's tax free if you where holding them for more than one year. A person can also move to another country where they don't care so much.
someSven··on Dissecting Ponzi schemes on Ethereum: identification, analysis, and impact
But this new currency wouldn't have the same support e.g. by exchange plattforms and not the same popularity.
someSven··on The Swiss leaks and Panama papers open a window on the tax-dodger’s world
Let's not forget that a lot of the tax fueled gouvernmental spending goes back to the middle and low income classes. And we are voting for it.
someSven··on Pinboard Acquires Delicious
They once deleted my account, because the email address stoped working and I forgot to change it. I thougth I'd had a backup, but then I realized it was without tags and comments. Since then I mistrust such services, better to store stuff on the own devices.
someSven··on German Unemployment Declines as Economy Poised for More Growth
Your cited sites don't care for the reason. But Germany had a lot of immigration of people which make more money in Germany than they could at home, but less than the more native population.

someSven··on German Unemployment Declines as Economy Poised for More Growth
No one needs to get donated food. These leftovers are given away for free instead of throwing them away. Some people are using this for propaganda, and to many are falling for it.
someSven··on German Unemployment Declines as Economy Poised for More Growth
There is no growing inequality. There are more one person househols and immigrants with lower wages.
someSven··on Goodbye PNaCl, Hello WebAssembly
The chance of success would be higher if the term GLX would be used: Debian GLX, Ubuntu GLX, etc.
someSven··on Lessons I Learned from the Dotcom Bubble for the Coming Cryptocurrency Bubble
One value of Bitcoin is keeping money save from the authorities. For anonymous donations and microdonations it is also usefull. Speculation or insurance against the Fiat money economy is another usecase.
someSven··on Why Germany Still Has So Many Middle-Class Manufacturing Jobs
The plan of making a agrarian country out of Germany never went into action!
someSven··on Why Germany Still Has So Many Middle-Class Manufacturing Jobs
Germany was strong before WK2, the buildings where gone, but the enterpreteneurs, scientists, developers, the workers morale and their experince were still there. Also obedience of the law, memories about how things should be organized etc.

If some money would help so much, more contries would be doing better.

If some money would help, more countries qould be soing better.

someSven··on Why Germany Still Has So Many Middle-Class Manufacturing Jobs
Primarily protestant (lutheran) states prefered Sozialdemocrats over Christiandemocrats, while the last ones are less socialist.
someSven··on Why Germany Still Has So Many Middle-Class Manufacturing Jobs
Same here. The concept is partially good, but it isn't done right. I'd prefer a more modular system with a lot more self studying. Nevertheless it's still better than what many other countries do.
someSven··on Why Germany Still Has So Many Middle-Class Manufacturing Jobs
I'm quite sure this isn't correct. You can always take extra courses and go to university. However, there is no point in everyone doing that.
