Building https://volt.fm
I let users generate nice images from their top artists and songs for sharing on social media. And every time some big account on Twitter uses that to share their stats, it goes viral and brings in a lot of new users. In one occasion I had 24k new users in just two days.
Disclaimer: I've built this.
Just use the search bar or browse artists/tracks/users to discover new genres.
Like dev.example.com/about and example.com/about?
You can even save their top songs as an auto-updating playlist. It's a great way to discover new music.
I run https://volt.fm and search is one of the most used features. If it didn't have built-in search, I doubt any of the users would use Google instead to find the artists/songs they were looking for.
- TypeScript / Node / Express
- PostgreSQL / RabbitMQ
- HTML / Tailwind CSS / Vanilla JS
- Hosted on two DigitalOcean droplets
- Deployed as Docker
- AWS SES for sending emails
My project https://volt.fm has 100k+ users now and I'm really struggling with the Spotify API.
I'll soon let you see all the playlists that are related to a particular genre instead of the newly indexed ones.
Disclaimer: I'm building this.
You can already create a profile and share and compare your stats with your friends. You also get a nice page for your playlists (see https://volt.fm/playlist/x48gzqnr2xoctxu1).
I'm now looking for beta testers for the next big feature that lets you share music (and play what's shared with you) right within the Spotify apps. Let me know if you want to join the list.
- https://volt.fm - See, share and compare your Spotify stats
- https://postsheet.com - Send emails to contacts in a Google Sheets or Airtable document
- https://pikaso.me - Screenshots Twitter for sharing on Instagram
- https://github.com/soheilpro/zsh-vi-search - Adds support for searching the current line (in normal vi mode) to zsh
- https://github.com/soheilpro/catj - A better way to display JSON files
- https://github.com/soheilpro/mann - Never forget command line options again
- https://github.com/soheilpro/pgcmd - Non-interactive PostgreSQL query tool
- https://github.com/soheilpro/sqlmon - Collect events from SQL Server and save them to Elasticsearch
- https://github.com/soheilpro/sqltop - Find the most resource consuming SQL Server queries
- https://github.com/soheilpro/mon - Painless performance monitoring for Windows
- https://github.com/soheilpro/Ledger - Interactive CLI double-entry accounting
That wasn't in my initial plan, but I'm considering adding user recommendations to https://volt.fm. Something like Twitter, but for sharing music with your friends.
I'm building volt.fm to add some missing social features to Spotify. Love to hear your feedback.
