snrji··on Karl Friston: a neuroscientist who might hold the key to true AI
Many thanks for your answer.
snrji··on Karl Friston: a neuroscientist who might hold the key to true AI
By no means will I be ever able to grasp Friston's theory, but the free energy minimisation vaguely reminds me of Curiosity-driven reinforcement learning. Can anyone with more understanding than me confirm or deny this apparent resemblance?
snrji··on Ask HN: Statically typed, high level language for machine learning?
That's right, but imho type hints are no the way to go, specially when many types could actually be statically inferred by the compiler/interpreter.

Perhaps the solution would be a full blown programming language which transpiled to Python the same way Typescript does. So, MyPi, but much more developed: interfaces, type inference, generics... Having access to all the Python libraries.

snrji··on Rust can be difficult to learn and frustrating, but it's also very exciting
I enjoy coding in Rust, and I think it's a step in the right direction, but I'm still looking for a general purpose programming language which model IO/State effects the same way languages supporting functional programming do with pure functions. Haskell monads are not granular enough. The closer thing I've seen is Purescript, but still is not general purpose enough. Solidity's "pure" annotations are a step in the right direction, but I'm speaking about something much expressive. Also, it should have a Rust/C-like syntax in order to be able to be mainstream, but I'm happy with Haskell-like syntaxes.
snrji··on An Unintuitive Take on Data Augmentation for Self-Driving Cars
If it's a pedestrian, you will do whatever is necessary to avoid it. You will break suddenly or you will even do a very heavy turn. In other words, you will probably put your own life in danger, and for a good reason.

If it's a car, you will NOT do whatever is necessary to avoid it (I'm speaking about low speed crashes here). You will prefer a "soft" crash that doing certain super dangerous maneuvers. Like, you will brake and "accept" a soft crash instead of doing a ultra heavy turn to the sidewalk.

snrji··on Waymo’s driverless cars have logged 10M miles on public roads
Fair enough.
snrji··on Waymo’s driverless cars have logged 10M miles on public roads
> Waymo cars reportedly have problems turning left, a flaw the Information calls “the Zoolander problem”: local residents reported waiting behind Waymo cars for minutes at a time as the algorithm hesitates to turn into traffic.

UPS drivers are told not to turn left for a reason. Couldn't Waymo do the same?

snrji··on Show HN: Parabola.io – Automate your work with visual programming
This looks exactly like an online version of Talend.
snrji··on Ask HN: How would a goal-oriented programming language look like?
Yes, I agree. But in the article I shared, they say that this goal-oriented language would be somehow "imperative" in the sense that you would be telling to the computer concrete things to do, just from a (much) higher abstraction level.
snrji··on Ask HN: How would a goal-oriented programming language look like?
Wow, very interesting.

I'm familiar with Prolog and its implementation, but definitely didn't know all of that.

snrji··on Ask HN: How would a goal-oriented programming language look like?
Great, thanks!
snrji··on Ask HN: How would a goal-oriented programming language look like?
I will. Thanks!
snrji··on Ask HN: How would a goal-oriented programming language look like?
So, start small with a niche? Thanks.
snrji··on Ask HN: How would a goal-oriented programming language look like?
Excellent, thanks!
snrji··on Ask HN: How would a goal-oriented programming language look like?
Very interesting. Gonna read it. Thanks.
snrji··on Ask HN: How would a goal-oriented programming language look like?
Right, but these languages are declarative.
snrji··on Why Do Fantasy Novels Have So Much Food?
Reading fantasy novels has always made me hungry. Not kidding.
snrji··on Show HN: Launched my first app where people hum songs for others to guess
Excellent idea and implementation, not so god naming. Might I suggest a name (.com not taken)?
snrji··on Congrats Dropbox
Funny to see how many "analysts" laugh at Brandon without even realising that their "analysis" use to be very flawed.
snrji··on Reduced-calorie diet shows signs of slowing ageing in people
I see, thanks.

How much weight have you lost? Were you somehow obese? Were you fit? Have you lost muscle mass?

Sorry if I'm getting too personal, genuinely interested.
