snlnspc··on Show HN: I replaced Google Analytics with simple log-based analytics
I agree with this, but thankfully these posts have let us know to block hello.gif and hello.js by default now.
snlnspc··on Show HN: Gergo – A Keyboard for Hackers
I'd recommend a clear picture of an assembled board displayed more prominently on the main page.
snlnspc··on MailChimp deleted my account with no warning
it didn't work the first (or second) time that this article was submitted. there was no waiting done here.
snlnspc··on Firefox desktop market share now below 9%
I run into the same thing somewhat frequently. it's the only real issue that I have with firefox. it's definitely not related to the profile, and it only seems to happen with fast enough input+enter.

it's really jarring to be sent to a random domain when looking up something in a hurry.

snlnspc··on Oculus and Vive Usage Appears to Be Flat or Declining
personally I won't be buying in until (at least) another generation of improvements to the technology, and I'm sure there are many others that feel the same. there will surely be a tipping point in price/quality of the device/software that will make it worth it for a lot of people.
snlnspc··on Netflix Eats Up 15% of Internet Downstream Traffic Worldwide
netflix is the scourge holding the internet back. bandwidth is theft!
snlnspc··on How Discord Handles Two and Half Million Concurrent Voice Users Using WebRTC
"working as intended, just patronize other users into fiddling with their settings until it's acceptable"

sounds to me like it's not a sane default

snlnspc··on Goodbye VSCode, Hello Emacs Again
I'm not much of a dev and historically just did things in n++ or vim. I gave a few IDEs a shot as I delved further into development, but wound up sticking with vim and eventually moved to spacemacs.

the initial task of setting emacs up seems to be one of the most common complaints, but I don't feel I really went through that with spacemacs. other than adding a layer now and then, I think I've made less than 20 minutes of changes to my config total, most of which was looking into a bit of lisp.

perhaps I should've tried a vim plugin for other ides, but I can't see myself switching to something like vscode or a jetbrains ide despite agreeing that they're good.

snlnspc··on Bash Infinity: Standard library and boilerplate framework for Bash
Too real.
snlnspc··on Laziness Does Not Exist
I am going to prove this article wrong for the next thirty minutes.
