The search by city, state doesn't seem to work.
If you enter something like "los angeles, ca" it returns no results.
zip code search works fine.

So immediate feedback. Why do i need to download an app ? This is HUGE friction.
Why can't i just DM your Intagram account all the posts/events that i care about, and it can pull directly from there and sent me a web link with a login code to view my organized events ?
Do you have links to your competitors ?
I can't find it on google
Websocket connections don't enforce CORS. So that's another alternative - host all of you APIs via websockets.
I currently use WaveTerm and it's pretty good. (But a bit laggy sometimes, i think it's electron based)
But both your terminal and waveterm are missing an important UX feature.
When you keep appending vertical terminals to the right (in the same view). They all get squished, to fit in the current window width.
Instead, I would love a horizontal scroll at the bottom, so I can have infinite termnial appending without having them squeezed to be smaller and smaller.
The ammount of functionality is not the problem.
The problem is that the functionality is not a set of composable functions and classes. It's an inversion of control "framworky" blackbox, where behavior is hard to reason about.
It's still rough around the edges. But best solution i've found so far.
They are auditing a Multi-Trillion bureaucratical behemoth (with terrible record keeping on top of it). Even a "certified auditor" can make a few mistakes.
Instead of focusing on onef misreported 8 billion line item, you should focus on the fact that they discovered 3 TRILLION in payments with no budgetary codes (literally TRILLIONS in blank untraceable checks)
I would rather have an businessman experienced making billion dollar companies efficient doing the audit, and doing it FAST, but making some mistakes.
Than having a typical beurocratic "certified auditor" audit, that does it slowly and won't even make a dent in a budget in a single year.
The US Govt is paying TRILLIONS in just INTEREST on the debt every year, and not even paying down the principal right now. And they have to borrow MORE MONEY, just to be able to cover the INTEREST payment next year. The US Gov't is in dire financial straights. We don't have time for a typical "bureaucratic auditors" auditing a trillion dollar bureaucracy.
We need an experienced businessman to come in and start cutting, and cutting FAST.
In a publicly traded company you get to chose whether to buy or sell the shares of a company based on how the CEO is running the company (including who he appoints to audit it)
In US Govt, we don't get to chose whether to "invest" in the govt or not, our taxes our collected by force.
So instead we have the power to vote for people in congress (who decide home much taxes are collected on how they are spend), and the president (who can execute on the spending directed by congress, but also has the power granted by constitution to audit and spend effiecntly)
The US Govt Shareholders (Voters) have SPOKEN, and SPOKEN LOUDLY! (Electoral College victory, and Popular Vote victory). They elected republican majority congress, and President Trump. Thus the voters voted for a deep gov't audit headed by Musk (Trump publicly campaigned on auditing and cleaning up spending, and publicly stated who will be in charge of the audit).
Whats the pricing for the cloud version if I am bringing my own postgres database ?
This problem can't be solved by a VC funded startup. This is not a problem that can return 100x on money invested.
Case in point: meetup
I think this problem is only addressable by a non-profit.
- run open source LLM models as an API, sell access at a steep discount
- run video comprehension service, sell at a discount
- run a remote build Service at a discount
If you actually want to use the credits as leverage to enter an actual SaaS market. Pick a commodity SaaS service, add a small twist on it and sell at steep discount to gain market share
- dropbox alternative
- YouTube alternative
- S3 / backblaze alternative
- Vercel / Netlify alternative
I am talking about having a UX date/time standard for all of UX, not just blogs.
There is UX where knowing timezone is critical, ex: when analyzing logs, breaking news etc.
To keep things simple it would be great if everyone agreed to always attach TZ info to any date or time shown.
Furthermore, any blog/article that might not appear important at the time it's posted, might become important DUE to breaking news. So just put timezones everywhere an be done with it :)
Anywhere a time or date is shown, it should also show corresponding time zone.
It's maddening to see a time in any UX and not know what time zone it's in.
And YES, a date shown on its own needs a time zone!
- Approximately how much does it cost ?
- Can it use videos of the same game, shot from different angles ?
In my head I am interpreting the law like this: Credit Reporting Company negligence "interferes" with a person being able to obtain a loan.
Do you verify that all the parts you suggest are compatible ?
Are you able to complement with actual build instructions ?
I don't mean to rain on your parade. But nothing you've written above actually matters.
The tech for a social network is a solved problem
The HARD unsolved problem is how to keep the social network running and monitized without going down the VC Funded death spiral.
You are literally making this post on a social network (hackernews) that is as old as reddit. They both roughly do the same thing.
Yet reddit is self desctructing. But hackernews is still running just fine, and still has a great community and high quality content and comments.
Have you stopped and asked yourself why this is so?
The first is a VC funded company that is expected to generate 100x return or die trying
The latter is subsidized by YCombinator to generate a funnel for their accelerator.
If you can't answer the question of how your social network is gonna stick around like hackerenws, and not self destruct like reddit in 10 years, then your social network is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.
Other approach is for LPs to reject any percentage based management fees.
I think a skin in the game payout structure for VCs would be better.
- VC has to commit x% (5%)? of their net worth into the fund
- VC gets bonus payouts only on individual investments that are net profitable (something like 3% of the net profit from the invested LP money)
- Could also be augmented with a Flat Yearly Salary/Fee to cover basic operations (not a percentage based fee)
If I was an LP thats how I would do it. No way would I agree to a flat percentage mangement fee.
Currently the only punishment a bad VC gets, is that they still collect their fees, and get the wag of the finger from the rich people who gave them money.
With the release of ChatGPT my need for a knowledgebase has decreased by 10x. And I assume that the need for knowledge base/bookmarking solutitions will disaapear completely in the next few years as LLMs improve.
Decentralized solutions don't scale.
