If something can have a positive effect it can also have a negative effect. The idea that weed is a net positive with no downsides just isn’t reality.

If you are in support of the forced “re education” of an individual, under threat of revoking their livelihood, no matter your ideological leanings, I would encourage you to think on this.
Genuinely curious if there are any examples for large scale reparations such as Jews post WW2 or Armenians post-genocide or Cambodian people post-Khmer Rouge.
Thanks for keeping HN civil.
By definition, you cannot be 100% focused on their company if you have two jobs.
There are exceptions when companies are performing well and founders have an exceptional track record (see: Jack Dorsey square/Twitter, Elon’s multiple ceo roles, etc)
Is this not posted in ask HN?
Unless there is something wrong with the UX, my understanding was that this was to be an Ask HN post.
Strange
I can glean no other message from the comment. What you’re describing would require quite a bit of mental gymnastics on my part.
I think you’re ignoring what the comment says in clear plain English and interpreting it in a way you think is less controversial.
It doesn’t matter how good your product is. If they have $20M to spend on a sales and marketing team you will be drowned out and no one will ever get to see your amazing product.
We can knock VC all day and dumb founders who over capitalized and over spent… but there’s a reason some of the worlds biggest companies are venture backed.
The notion that people on separate planes of morality will occupy completely separate economic systems is … not realistic.
Couple that with the FOMO culture of 2021 and you have a recipe for minimal DD and maximum deal speed.
HN activists listen to me - tech bosses are actively avoiding hiring people who want to bring this stuff to work. Some are more vocal than others, but even the ones who agree with your views and ideologies will actively avoid hiring an activist. They do not want their companies to be distracted by your interest in changing the world.
If this offends you I am sorry but this is a growing trend in the valley and beyond. My advice would be to return to university or work in an institution where social activism and extra curricular activities are part of the mission.
Adderall is bad.
Source: spent many years on adderall. Deeply regret it.
Nothing about CTE, long term physical or mental issues, financial problems players face?
Nothing insightful, Just more race baiting headlines.
I’m not sure how else to explain this to folks passionate about climate change, but telling people the world is going to end, calling them stupid for asking “are you sure?” and telling them to pull out their wallet - is not effective policy.
Waiting for Dang or the mods to swoop in on this one.
Not gonna hold my breath.
Also, imagine thinking 80 million people (and many billion more in the world) are literal human shit. And simultaneously thinking you’re the smart good person in the room. Imagine that.
Trevor Noah’s shtick is “conservatards are dumb hurr durr America sucks” and I’m supposed to clap like a sea lion?
Ok lol
It seems to be anything the government finds inconvenient, whether that be related to political corruption, taxes, health, education, politicization of institutions, bodily autonomy, sexual assault, politicians taking bribes, war crimes, etc.
We should feel fortunate that we have bloggers to help us arrive at these conclusions
I suspect there are a couple of reasons for this
1. Some of these people are made extremely uncomfortable by other cultures and genuinely don’t know how to act. A lot of these activists tend to be high income whites. It is unsurprising they genuinely don’t know what other cultures are thinking/feeling?
2. They want to DO good but they end up using other people/cultures/groups as a tool to make themselves LOOK good.
