smusamashah··on GPT-5.6, Grok 4.5, Claude, and Muse Spark build the same 4 apps
"One honest caveat", "no glitches, no color changes" good tests and I read it to the end but I wish it was written by a human.
smusamashah··on Train sim created by just one person is being called the best ever made
It's the lighting etc that provide photo realism with Unreal. Even the demo that comes with Unreal where a robot is running around cubes on a small plain looks photoreal.
smusamashah··on Train sim created by just one person is being called the best ever made
Not to dismiss the effort by dev, but all Unreal engine games look photoreal these days. My point is that photorealism does not show effort these days.
smusamashah··on Fifty-seven self-contained web demos BY Fable in one run
Original Twitter post by pliny who is mainly known for jailbreaking LLMs https://x.com/elder_plinius/status/2075213137851433280
smusamashah··on Show HN: Analog Watch
Same, I find it easier to see time on analogue. When I see 3:30 for example, in my head I see hands of a watch (in-fact, a very particular watch I grew up seeing in the shade in courtyard). I visualize not just the watch but the lighting at that time of day as well. Gives me perfect sense of how late or early in the day that time means.
smusamashah··on Fable turned reMarkable into Tom Riddle's diary from Harry Potter
How does it fade out smoothly? There is also this which shows smooth filling in. I haven't seen smoothness like this on a remarkable
smusamashah··on Zuckerberg says AI agent development going slower than expected
HN is so extreme sometimes. I remember when Llama was gaining popularity, everyone here was praising him for releasing open models. Same for other works in this area. Also remember praise for some VR devices.

And it's all back to Facebook, nothing in between. It doesn't look any different from general population influenced by TV and other social media.

smusamashah··on Superpowers 6
Where I $work, someone used Superpowers to pull off two big projects that before AI have always been left untouched because of the effort and time required. One was about unifying lots of duplicating (but kot exactly) libraries, and another to convert our bespoke shell scripts used throughout deployment pipeline to ansible.

When I used it though , I only found it burning too many tokens to do too little. I guess Superpowers is useful only in hands that know how to manipulate it.

smusamashah··on From brain waves to words: a new path to communication without surgery
This is the most pessimistic take on this tech here. You can view anything with the same lens.
smusamashah··on A native graphical shell for SSH
Feedback: Home pages of each of Outer Loop, Outer Frame and Outer Shell contain basic intro of each instead of a link redirecting to them. By the time I click the link and on the new Outer X I have already what Outer X I came from and what it meant.
smusamashah··on The case for physical media ownership
Doesn't license of some media asks you to destroy the physical copies in certain cases? It's all in the license.
smusamashah··on Deciphering basmala
The one on leaf is not top to bottom though. It's more lower right to top left.
smusamashah··on HackerRank open sourced its ATS. My resume scored 90/100. Oh wait 74. No – 88
We expect computers to be consistent on the other hand. A calculator will always give you the same answer unless some chip gets struck by a particle. LLMs are on computers and should be fairly consistent too.

smusamashah··on What happened after 2k people tried to hack my AI assistant
This is very underwhelming result. Given all 2k emails were single shot attempts, it is not unexpected. Real world scenarios are usually back and forth. There are model whisperers out there (pliny on twitter) who I am very sure can extract the secrets if you got their attention.
smusamashah··on Show HN: An ASCII 3D Rendering Engine
Is it like a filter on top of graphical 3D rendering or is everything rasterized in ascii from the basics?
smusamashah··on FUTO Swipe – A new swipe typing model
Looking at the example videos, specially the VR one, I can't help but think that this gives every word its own unique shape. For example, the word "model" got shape matching infinity symbol.
smusamashah··on Printing Gaussian Splats
This is the splat https://superspl.at/scene/3ae6a716
smusamashah··on The deadly rise of giant trucks and SUVs
I recall that an SUV killed a 7 year old and his parents were charged with manslaughter and jailed, not the driver. https://globalnews.ca/news/11214748/parents-charged-death-so...

As an outsider (from a fairly corrupt country), this reeks of corruption and that law favours rich.

smusamashah··on Sakana Fugu
Oh! I thought TrustedRouter was a joke/sarcasm. Very wrong placement of the comment.
smusamashah··on Help I accidentally a wigglegram
I had it on, but it makes each photo 10-12 MB though. Now its on Auto, which isn't ideal either.
smusamashah··on The 100k whys of AI
Reminds of Pluribus.
smusamashah··on Microsoft new Outlook takes 10 seconds to do what Outlook Classic does instantly
To everyone reading this, Win 11 Notepad CAN BE UNINSTALLED.

Old one lives in c:/windows/notepad.exe which you can open with Win+R, type notepad to open good old non-slop non-ai notpead. Or do some registry shenanigans (you can find them online) to bring that one in start menu or make it a default editor.

smusamashah··on Windows 11 25H2 – I'm so happy to not be using this
They use Macs there at Microsoft https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=30019307
smusamashah··on Show HN: Kage – Shadow any website to a single binary for offline viewing
What if I wanted to download all Confluence docs at work?
smusamashah··on Keygen.music
This website is horrific on phone. A sane human made website with keygen music has been shared on HN a few times already.
smusamashah··on Slightly reducing the sloppiness of AI generated front end
I have seen so many brown sites that look all the same, all designed by this thing most likely. So no.
smusamashah··on Claude Fable 5
Can you please compare the code generated by other similar quality pelicans by other models. Code in your first link (Fable 5 Default) looks minimal yet very good.
smusamashah··on Ask HN: What are tools you have made for yourself since the advent of AI?
Lookup or modify selected text using AI (chrome extension). I just select any text and click the tiny popup button "what's this" and get an answer right there on the page. Made it mainly to explain terms and abbreviations I come across on HN often. Can also ask any other question about selected text. Can even modify the selected text the same way. [1]

OneNote to markdown/obsidian canvas converter. It did that using interop api to read the actual XML of the onenote files.

Work time tracker as 1px line on edge of monitor. Shows thin line at the edge of the display which fills up based on what i am doing.

Plaintext bookmark chrome extension that save links to local markdown file, Dynalist, Workflowy, Github Gist and import export between them. Was originally for Dynalist when AI couldn't do much 2-3 years ago. Recently added these other end points. [2]

A heart rate monitor with finger on camera. It's bit crappy though. Had to make it because many trackers, including google fit, couldn't detect 200bpm. https://github.com/SMUsamaShah/heart-rate
