smrtinsert··on DARPA, U.S. Air Force fly AI-controlled F-16
I thought Captain America personally stopped this initiative
smrtinsert··on Fable 5 vs. GPT-5.6 Sol on an NP-Hard Problem: Does /goal help?
This resonated:

Initially these statements were so absurd on their face that I thought it was some cynical ploy to achieve thought leader status, and there are certainly some people doing this – I have had it admitted to me. But the broader reality is so much worse: people who have no background in the technology at all actually believe what they are saying.
smrtinsert··on Claude Code sends 33k tokens before reading the prompt; OpenCode sends 7k
Been my experience as well. Human corrected code is orders better than ai generated slop. Slop might get you the promotion at your day job who is still in fomo tokenmaxx mode, but highly recommend the careful review for your personal projects

I find it hilarious people think they can build on slop or on captured output from quality engineers. Intent is the most important aspect, and no code base could ever capture that

smrtinsert··on SpaceX wants to launch 100k more Starlink satellites for 100x the bandwidth
Who is envious of his trillions? I'm certainly not. I am very annoyed at someone who buys elections, literally promising a million dollars for a vote, and then running in and gutting key portions of the US government, and playing fast and loose with our data - at a bare minimum.

We will be investigating him for decades and he deserves every second of it.

smrtinsert··on SpaceX wants to launch 100k more Starlink satellites for 100x the bandwidth
What are the "stupid reasons"? Are they "regulations"?
smrtinsert··on What is Bending Spoons? The little-known AOL and Vimeo owner that's now public
Scotts point was that these brands have already declined, and that the only thing left is a very strongly loyal subscription base. That perked my ears up for sure.
smrtinsert··on Grok 4.5
No, because most model providers don't have an overt political agenda determined by one person.

He literally promises to change specific political responses. Building on top of Grok will ultimately be as useful as buying TrumpCoin

smrtinsert··on GLM 5.2 and the coming AI margin collapse
The same critique of those points can be made which was in the article. The cost of switching is minimal.

This isn't SAP or a CRM or some other business where workflow = moat.

smrtinsert··on Meta data center water discharges suspended for contaminating water supply
Move fast and break things isn't a mantra that arose from first principles, it's literally all they know how to do
smrtinsert··on Zuckerberg 'Admits' Meta's Layoffs Were Ineffective
Unfortunately for boards and ceos, software engineers arent dumb. If they see your bottom line explode while their workload increases and their pay doesn't, they will not give you 10x. Honestly I'm surprised if people are even giving 0.5x in the current climate. Engineers need to stop trusting big companies to get their back.

  The harness

  The harness of the harness?!!
This structure doesn't make any sense to me. It's like adding a half leather half shag wrap to your steering wheel. Not to mention the harness itself is updated almost multiple times daily. I'm sure these framework authors are keeping tabs on the harness of the harness performance for every release of the harness.
smrtinsert··on Meta caps internal AI token spending
That is insane. I'm sure companies will learn the absolute wrong lesson from this, and attempt to centralize and kneecap token usage.
smrtinsert··on Nintendo has raised its employees base salary by 10%
A lot of companies seem to not do consistent raises for inflation
smrtinsert··on Show HN: OpenKnowledge – open source AI-first alternative to Obsidian/Notion
Just my personal pref with your roadmap, don't waste time on the electron app, I would never use it. A webapp definitely with OpenCode support big on the list as well.
smrtinsert··on Show HN: OpenKnowledge – open source AI-first alternative to Obsidian/Notion
100% second for OpenCode. for a lot of people it's becoming a very important second choice. I use it for cheaper models when my $20 claude code runs out for the day and I get a lot out of it.
smrtinsert··on GLM-5.2 is a step change for open agents
I've actually come to believe the overwhelming majority of use cases require nowhere frontier quality so there's that. Much faster execution is just a bonus on top of the much reduced cost
smrtinsert··on Big Tech is borrowing like never before
Is it me? I feel like we are entering an era where it has become possible for one of the big companies to fail.
smrtinsert··on DOS Game "F-15 Strike Eagle II" reversing project needs DOS test pilots
Man I loved this game. My friend and I would split responsibility and share the keyboard. One did the firing other the navigating
smrtinsert··on NASA picks Eric Schmidt's rocket company for Mars mission
"Don't read to much into this. It's just a key talent, stable and productive, forming relationships with a key partner, gathering experience that you would think would be critical information to another companies valuation."
smrtinsert··on Is Meta destroying its engineering organization?
Instagram runs on angular doesn't it? They make more money per user than the core FB product... You might want to revisit your criteria for your FAANG journey
smrtinsert··on Leak Exposes Members of Peter Thiel's Secretive 'Dialog' Society
Joseph Gordon-Leavitt really stands out, why would he be included here?
smrtinsert··on Is Meta destroying its engineering organization?
It's 100% unbelievable and hysterical that its true. Have they done the simple math on how much labeled data they need to make a model of value?
smrtinsert··on Is Meta destroying its engineering organization?
My favorite one is "NO ACCESS TO PRODUCTION DATA" "it's for agent" "do whatever you want"
smrtinsert··on Is Meta destroying its engineering organization?

the new normal for our industry
Not really. This level of toxic is definitely just Meta.
smrtinsert··on Is Meta destroying its engineering organization?
This reads like a way to get engineers to quit while they work on something "useful". After losing Yann, I doubt its going to end up being useful.
smrtinsert··on Is Meta destroying its engineering organization?
If its any consolation, it doesn't work. Just from reading about the company and watching its business operating principles and innovation track record, its very clear what is going on inside - at least from someone with experience in the overall tech industry.
smrtinsert··on SpaceX to buy Cursor for $60B
Giving retail traders a reason to turn their life savings into exit liquidity
smrtinsert··on Feds freaked over Fable 5 after 'fix this code', not jailbreak, say researchers
I can only imagine the unintended consequence of this whole fiasco will be for frontier providers to not provide future "warnings" about model capabilities in order to de risk earnings
smrtinsert··on Extinction-Level Capitalism
We're in the Pets.com era of AI for sure. There is 0 guarantee the current providers will be around in 5-10 years. I keep thinking they will have to lean in to government protection to do so.
smrtinsert··on Show HN: Paca – Lightweight Jira alternative for human-AI collaboration
I think this is capturing the current need - solo vibe engineers that need structured task tracking. Since I pop between machines for various reasons, I tend to keep this info in the project itself, but an MCP server could go a long way. Tracking this project
