smilepet_26··on A note for application developers about using Site's logo instead of css sprites
A note for application developers: I find it hard to get the logo of any website due to the fact that most websites use css-sprites to show their respective site's logo. If I am having a public site and would like to give information about other sites, I am not able to show the related site's logo because the logo is embedded with other images in a css sprite. Consider, I like to show Twitter's bird logo in my pubic listing but it's infact a css sprite like this https://g.twimg.com/sites/all/themes/gazebo/img/sprite.png In this case, there is no way to show the site's identifiable logo. I would suggest developers to have site's logo as a separate image and don't mess up with other css sprites as this will hinder from showing your identity uniquely.
smilepet_26··on The Expressive Web – CSS3 and HTML5 features showcased by Adobe
Thanks for mentioning that. I forgot it anyway.
smilepet_26··on The Expressive Web – CSS3 and HTML5 features showcased by Adobe
yes, it works accross most browsers and in most operating systems. Mordernizer is tweaked so much to support some age-old browsers too.
smilepet_26··on There’s More Hair, Feces, and Toenails in Your Pork Than You Realize
It's utterly evil; that is why major religions like Christianlity, Islam etc. prohibited its consumption. I really dislike even tasting it!
smilepet_26··on Paperwork- OpenSource(PHP) Note-taking Similar to Evernote,OneNote and GoogleKeep
It uses Laravel4-PHP, AngularJs, Twitter bootstrap and hosted on popular LAMP stack.
smilepet_26··on HHVM/PHP is a beast compared to php 5.5 and shows competing performance over Node
May be this is because of a combination of reasons that PHP has been optimized to compete with itself and other trending languages: they include : * HHVM-PHP is compiled & may or may not be statically typed * It uses multiple threads to handle and process n no. of requests concurrently * PHP source into bytecode & JIT support * Fewer CPU and RAM usage and therefore less resource consumption. So, the ability to use it as procedural, object-oriented or scripting language for web makes it an ideal competitor for coldfusion, ruby or Java apps written for web applications.
smilepet_26··on Old Cookies Die Hard (2013)
Very good analysis about cookie in such extremely popular websites but it turns out that they are not having proper security measures in place to protect users confidentiality. Very pathetic. This is why, some sites like OSIpage (http://www.osipage.com) requires both password+security code combination for additional security and does not rely on session cookies.
smilepet_26··on Filezilla at SourceForge is malware
I faced the same problem. This is a total mess and I could not believe that a most reputed web program like Filezilla hosted at Sourceforge is a malicious software. The best thing should be that Filezilla should be available for download from https://filezilla-project.org firsthand.

smilepet_26··on Security oriented free gmail alternative (proton mail) opens public beta
This is another interesting and massive PHP project aimed at user data security and privacy. Looks so impressive and it's a promising mail app by CERN engineers.
smilepet_26··on Show HN: Access popular sites and bookmarks, the smarter way yet simple
Thank you, your points are valid and welcoming. We don't want to use bootstrap at the moment because we want to have unique style for the service (non-shared, personal, online bookmarking). "Why can't I just login with email+password?" => that's a good suggestion and we consider that too. "password AND a security code" => this is only for increased user data protection. We have used hint stating that security code should be typed twice. We have plans to improve look and feel but in a unique way.

smilepet_26··on OSIpage adds “Shop Online” service link to existing web access navigation list
what do you think to be other popular online services that could be added to OSIpage list so that users benefit from most of the web? for example, "payment gateways" and "shop online" were recent additions due to user request.

smilepet_26··on Higgs JavaScript Virtual Machine
Some notable features of Higgs include: - A self-hosted runtime written in extended JavaScript - Lazy/incremental JIT compilation Context-driven versioning of basic blocks - A Foreign Function Interface (FFI) system to interface with C code - An interactive shell (REPL) with access to low-level primitives. - A simple module system and a set of useful libraries.

I like these features. This is simply awesome.
