5G coverage is quite poor even in metropolitan areas.
smiddereens··on Why aren't fentanyl test strips more widespread? (2021)
If the fentanyl is due to cross-contamination rather than deliberate adulteration test strips are unlikely to catch it without destroying an unacceptable amount of the product.
smiddereens··on Butyrylcholinesterase is a potential biomarker for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
Would a convincing medical explanation change your opinion?

It's like "solving" the odd-numbered problems with the help of the textbook's answer key.

smiddereens··on My former employer Opera Software has filed a lawsuit against me
I've tried to get into Opera every year for over the past decade. While I admit that they introduced many innovative features, they could never get them "right" and their UI was always ugly and unpleasant to work with. If anything Opera should be suing this guy for that.
smiddereens··on Facebook Home destroys any notion of privacy
You don't get it man, there won't be a choice. You will be forced to use Facebook Home.
smiddereens··on Create your next conference poster with LaTeX
I put down LaTeX when I finished grad school.
smiddereens··on This Man Thinks He Never Has to Eat Again
Based on his recipe I don't see how this is being perceived as novel or revolutionary. Surely many HNers have endeavored to make "bachelor chow" (or more appropriately slurry) in the past.
smiddereens··on Automatic: Your Smart Driving Assistant
"Why the fax machine is nothing but a waffle iron with a phone attached."
smiddereens··on SimCity UI Code + DRM
A lot of games use Flash for in-game UIs. See Scaleform.

If you're impatient you can skip the line with proxy shenanigans.

smiddereens··on Sucking at Retina
I hear targeting EGA saves you a lot on storage.
smiddereens··on Don't Drop Out to Do a Startup
I wish I'd done a startup before going to college. I would've had a better sense of what to focus on.
