slitaz··on Friday's Most Read Letter: Ban Cryptocurrencies to Tackle Cyber Attacks (FT.com)
Also, ban the weapon industry to tackle wars.
slitaz··on Wind turbines are neither clean nor green and they provide zero global energy
There is some blatant massaging of the numbers in this article. As if they are merelly hell-bent against renewables.
slitaz··on Will Linux distro’s run on Windows 10 S?
They said No.
slitaz··on Building Apps for Linux Without Linux
tldr; snap creation on Windows as well, WSL.
slitaz··on I wrote the Art of the Deal with Trump. His self-sabotage is rooted in his past
This is a relevant article to HN.

It articulates what to likely expect from the presidency in the future.

It also brings up a certain psychological profile that we may find in startups and their founders.

slitaz··on Red Hat – Why We Voted NO on Java Modules JSR 376
What about the part that Java modules would have simplified Java, making it easier for software that is not over-engineered?
slitaz··on Ubuntu 17.04 review
The majority should stick with what they have been running, even Unity which will be supported for many years as part of 16.04.

The 17.10, being the first version with Gnome Shell, will probably have rough edges for those that are used to Unity.

slitaz··on [dead]
A fine article in cherry-picking and misleading the readers.

The main argument is to take the figures for total world energy generation and find the percentage for renewables. He uses old stats and finds that renewables were 0.45%, and rounds down to 0. Hence the "zero global energy"...

Even the comments are more enlightening.

slitaz··on Uncensorable Wikipedia on IPFS
Didn't you mean "unblockable" instead?
slitaz··on Show HN: VPS Comparison – Automated tests to compare VPS by yourself
Nice and thorough work!
slitaz··on Encrypted WhatsApp Message Recovered from Westminster Terrorist's Phone-Slashdot
Source: http://m.economictimes.com/news/international/world-news/uk-...
slitaz··on [dead]
Better share another URL than Slashdot. Slashdot is an aggregator, not a source of news.
slitaz··on The Loophole in the Hedonic Treadmill
It reads like an elaborate sponsored piece for plastic surgery. Even if it focuses on plastic surgery, it does not provide any details on the types of plastic surgery.
slitaz··on Scaleway ARMv8 Cloud Servers
When creating a new ARMv8 server, IPv6 is off by default. You just need to tick it and that's it.
slitaz··on AES-CBC is going the way of the dodo
Presently extinct but trying hard to genetically recreate them?
slitaz··on Ask HN: Canonical removed all job vacancies
They are restructuring and had to lay off many people. There is now focus to cloud and iot. They will probably put job listings once they complete the restructuring.
slitaz··on ‘Shattered’ Charts Hillary Clinton’s Course into the Iceberg
If Trump lost the elections, we would get a similar book about his mistakes and his campaign's ineptness.

It was a polarising and dirty race.

slitaz··on [dead]
Most probably a political question not suitable for HN. As a question it is also very hypothetical, as if Twitter banning would have an impact on a war.
slitaz··on Dozens of Canonical Employees Resign as Ubuntu Switches to Gnome
Slashdot is not an original source of news, does not offer much insightful commenting, and they mess up with the titles to provoke clicks.
slitaz··on Canonical sharpens post-Unity axe for 80-plus Ubuntu spinners
Standard the-reg drama-tech headlines. Click-baity.
slitaz··on Atmospheric CO2 levels accelerate upwards
Carbon sequestration does not produce immediate benefits, like being a cheap way in making bricks (extreme example).

It is like the insulin injections to a person that got already type-2 diabetes.

slitaz··on Mark Shuttleworth says some free software folk are 'deeply anti-social'
There are so many of those that love to hate, can't think which he is referring to.
slitaz··on Theshadowbrokers releases key for hacked NSA tools along with manifesto
You are doing God's work.
slitaz··on How to Get a Free Domain Name for Lifetime – No Puzzle
NOT for life and they can ban a user account.
slitaz··on A girl was found living among monkeys in an Indian forest
My way would be to observe and befriend the group of primates and gradually befriend them. The sudden removal is not in the benefit of the welfare of the girl.

A gradual process in several months would be more successful.

Time will show whether the sudden removal is going to work this time.

slitaz··on A girl was found living among monkeys in an Indian forest
I feel it is a badly-written article.

If the girl managed to survive for so many years, she should have been left with the trouppe of primates and get observed. This sudden change will probably be worse than any other less brutal change in the environment.

slitaz··on A Thank-You Note to the Hacker News Community from Ubuntu
The Amazon thing was gone in 2016. Having an option for integrated payments in the software store is a nice thing, isn't it? You get the donations feature in the store instead of going elsewhere.
slitaz··on A Thank-You Note to the Hacker News Community from Ubuntu
Which project is "voting" on design decisions?
slitaz··on A Thank-You Note to the Hacker News Community from Ubuntu
Unity 7 is a computer plugin.
slitaz··on A Thank-You Note to the Hacker News Community from Ubuntu
The UI is the type of big software that needs design and follow this design. Otherwise you end up with a complex piece of software. You get this with all types of big software that need to keep a clean design to avoid future pains.
