slenk··on PayPal has restricted our account after we invoiced a key containing “ALEP”
Yup. They closed my account with money in it, with no explanation why my account has been closed and absolutely zero recourse.
slenk··on SVB Hall of Shame
I feel like if it were slower though, then the bank would have been fine.

Granted, I can't talk about the board or their investing decisions because I don't feel educated enough to speak on that part.

slenk··on SVB Hall of Shame
Weren't they technically ok before the run as long as there wasn't a run?
slenk··on SVB Hall of Shame
Well if everyone didn't just follow everyone else blindly, there wouldn't have been a run

Batteries in their current form are incredibly harmful to the environment, and I think would need to be replaced more than nuclear fuel sources.

Not everyone is an individual. Does that take into account a family that they might be supporting?

I am not the only one that thinks Seattle is expensive - not sure why you are so adamant it is not.

But your cost of living goes up if you have to commute and/or live close enough to use public transportation to get to the offices.

The cities FAANG companies are located in don't seem to be exactly cheap.

slenk··on Many women struggle to breastfeed. Scientists are starting to ask why
Flouridation has been studied and scuritnized pretty heavily since the 40s. No one is just assuming it's fine. It is.

The positives of flouridation far outweigh any of the negative consequences that could occur. But I have never heard of anyone with a flouride problem in my life.

slenk··on Tesla to open some superchargers to other vehicles
Holy crap the electricity for pumps didn't click with me.
slenk··on Tesla to open some superchargers to other vehicles
But if EVERY person had an EV it would have had problems.

And what if you were one of the unfortunate people who lost power for 5 days and had an EV? If it wasn't charged enough to go to a charging station that might have power...what do you do?

I am honestly curious: how in the world did gas pumps freeze? Are gas pumps actually built differently in the north?

slenk··on Many women struggle to breastfeed. Scientists are starting to ask why
Probably because you're not heating your home a lot of the year in Hawaii
slenk··on Tesla to open some superchargers to other vehicles
Think about the Texas electrical grid. Do you think ERCOT could handle a massive influx of EVs when an ice storm disrupts half the state?
slenk··on Tesla to open some superchargers to other vehicles
And the more natural gas, the more methane that is leaked into the atmosphere, which is a much stronger greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide.

Methane is bad. Even is mentioned in your link.

slenk··on Tesla to open some superchargers to other vehicles
I'll admit I didn't take that into account. This assumes the power plants won't cause pollutants in dense urban areas though
slenk··on Tesla to open some superchargers to other vehicles
So...couple things.

1) I am jealous you live somewhere where nuclear is an option. In most states in the US, nuclear power is decreasing.

2) Natural gas isn't any better than coal.

3) Coal won't go away as long as conservatives are in power in the house - they love coal.

4) I think ICE vs Electric greatly depends on how much you use your car. I drive maybe once or twice a week, only city - I am going to be constantly having to charge my car since the battery will go dead if you leave it unplugged in cold weather (Michigan). A tank of gas lasts me for like 3 months. There is no way EV would be better for the environment.

slenk··on Tesla to open some superchargers to other vehicles
Natural gas is NO better than coal. Don't let the current media blitz fool you
slenk··on Tesla to open some superchargers to other vehicles
Personally I don't think we should. Sorry if I implied that.

As long as coal is powering the electricity in the cars, what exactly is helping the environment?

slenk··on Tesla to open some superchargers to other vehicles
I don't think most electrical grids can spare that much high amperage all the time. You know they aren't getting priority on the grid.
slenk··on Health concerns grow in East Palestine, Ohio, after train derailment
I just think it would be wise to not blindly trust any agency right now. I would like to see some independently verified levels at the crash site and at the locations where people are reporting issues.
slenk··on Health concerns grow in East Palestine, Ohio, after train derailment
Didn't realize that distinction - thank you.

Do you know if they recommended it right away or after a few days?

But people are making this an antisemetic attack. Nothing about that is antisemetic.

I would say y'all comparing jews with goblins are the racists.

slenk··on Mastodon.lol will shut down on May 9, 2023
I think the only people making that goblin reference are people looking to be mad.

Do you really think tales of dwarfs and goblins didn't exist before people cared about races so much?

I'm just baffled by the reaching here.

Let people play a video game.
