CM Account, CM Updater, Movie Studio, File Manager and CM Wallpaper are all apps that I uninstall as soon as I flash a ROM to one of my devices.
Their CM File Manager for one is a totally redundant application that hasn't been updated in a long time, despite being broken (it doesn't work in Super User mode without done juggling about)
Their CM Account is one other thing that I find totally pointless.
CM would be better off bringing more innovative features to Android instead of just copying drivers from CAF and changing headers to say CM instead of CAF or AOSP.
The innovation in the Android ROM community has been coming from Paranoid Android, AOKP, Omni and Slim ROMs, and from the Xposed community.
They've been reduced to being a repo shepherd for certain devices, but most of their user base comes from people running "Unofficial" builds compiled by independent developers.
I think, as a start up, they'd be better off if they focused on features instead of just trying to market CM Phones that essentially run a Nexus like build of plain vanilla Android.
So Obama deserved a Nobel Peace prize for running a successful electoral campaign, but Edward Snowden doesn't deserve one for making one of the largest exposés of compromises of individual freedom in the history of the world.
Bravo, Americans.
This is a more practical approach to connecting more people to the digital universe. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aakash_(tablet) So is this. http://m.androidcentral.com/intel-introduces-yolo-android-ba...
I don't know what this company aims to do by handing people who can't afford a square meal a USB drive.... If you guys are on HN and reading this, please stop sensationalising your USB stick and make a real piece of hardware that gets people connected.
Google search is default, and for those looking for alternatives, there's also an excellent DuckDuckGo app.
Every major studio out there makes formulaic bull that basically copies some other schmuck's idea and adds their own "StudioCoin" on top to monetize the game.
Temple Run spawned hundreds of clones, then Candy Crush clones came out and now apparently it's Clash of Clans clones. Everyone from EA to Mobage does this cloning instead of focusing on bringing new ideas to the table. If only they tried to innovate, the crappy studios like King would go out of business.
Indie developers try hard, but it takes a team to make a well rounded game with large scale mass appeal... :/
tl;dr Today's mobile games are time consuming black holes, and once done credible competition comes forth, they're sure sink.
Once the data is commercially available, it'll be sure to lead to even more targeted marketing, and discrimination by insurance firms.
Edit (couldn't resist :P)
England Prevails!
This is just another example of how the convenience of drone strikes has led to the belittling of war.
In the past, the possibility of your soldiers dying on the ground was a huge deterrent to frivolous strikes. Today, drones conduct major strikes without paying any heed to international borders. Drones conduct missions nobody would have imagined possible a few years back. While there is a huge benefit to the invading army in terms of reduction of fatalities, there is also a cheapening of war that lets commanders order strikes at their whim. I'm sure nobody in the US or NATO armies in Afghanistan admits this, but this happens in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
I know it's not the same issue, but throughout the whole NSA snooping revelations, Americans have only been concerned by the legality of spying on their own citizens. All of us foreigners are fair game.
This is similar. The value of an American life is much more than that of a foreigner's life.
"President Barack Obama asked Pakistan not to prosecute Davis and recognize him as a diplomat, stating, "There's a broader principle at stake that I think we have to uphold."
I see that this 'broader principle' doesn't seem to apply to a legitimate diplomat... en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raymond_Allen_Davis_incident
Let's just take this for what it was, a District Attorney trying to gain as much publicity as possible.
The Saudis have been committing graver abuse of their domestic help for years, but nobody in America has had the balls to come out and cavity search an oil rich Saudi yet.
The only way they could have won this is if they lobbied enough for the Brazilians to look past the significant shortcomings of the Boeing aircraft. And I think even then their lack of cooperation when it comes to transfer of technology and offsets would have sabotaged the deal.
Brazil already has a very reliable civilian aircraft maker in Embraer, and they are looking to bootstrap them into defense through transfer of technology. Boeing never would have done that.
Saab was very open for transfer of technology at that time, and I imagine it still is, which would be one of the biggest factors in their favour. There have also been some rumors about the less than stellar performance of the Rafale in recent conflict situations which I'm sure also contributed to the deal.
Scored 12/20... this bot is good!
However, a lot of the headlines sound like I've read them, even so even if the bot is generating new titles for old stories by itself, it's using the same keywords as the original titles, so it ends up confusing me a bit...
